This cymbal is the foundation of my set. Without my ride, i would feel naked. I have the 20" version of this ride and it's a very nice ride. The only downfall is that the wash can build up and the stick definition is not too clear. But with wash comes crashability. I use this as my third crash sometimes for breakdowns etc. I'm interested in a 22" K Dark Medium Ride now, but this is still a great choice for a ride.
This ride really was what i was looking for. If your into jazz, go and buy a k custom. If heavy metal is all you do, go buy a z custom. If you want something thats great for all around, buy this!I will say that if you play just one style, this might not be for you. but if you play all styles, this is an awesome ride!
I Was previously using a zxt rock ride before the 22" a custom meduim ride, and i was a little hesitant becuase i didnt know how it was going to sound before i got there, but when i did and tested it out i was so shocked on how loud it was, its just expremely loud. It crashes lovely, the bow is decent enough for riding, and the bell is just amazing, has the perfect tone, not to high, more low, and also extremely loud. the cymbal in general is low pitched becuase its a 22" but i strongly recomend this if you want a ride you need to crash and ride on, and if you need something loud, perfect for METAL!
i bought this cymbal, not really knowing what to expect but sense i already had the 20 inch medium crash, i assumed this would be a good match. i was BLOWN AWAY. yes its a very good ride but a breath taking crash as well, i usually dont ride my cymbals i always crash al the time and thts what i use this cymbal for, and it has gone far beyond my expectations. thanks zildjian!
When you're looking at buying quality, a new ride becomes a fairly big purchase. Even though I love Zildjians (specifically A Customs), I looked at and tested quite an array of options from different companies. I've had the 20" A Custom Med. Ride now for about a week, and every time I play I know I made the right choice. This cymbal produces good stick definition, a strong bell, the right amount of wash, nice warmth, and sweet crashability. In fact, I'd bet that the 20" A Custom Medium Crash would sound very similar when opened-up. Lots of Zildjian players will push the K Custom rides, but if you're in the market for one, do yourself a favor and don't overlook the A Custom Mediums.
After using rides from the ZBT and ZXT series, I wanted a better sound to record with. I found an A Custom twenty inch medium ride on sale and made the purchase. With other A Customs and Z Customs in my setup, this was the final piece of the puzzle. It produces a warm, defined tone that "rides" very nicely with whatever you're playing. This is a great cymbal, I am well pleased with it and you will be two.
I own the 21" version of this ride. It's a great cymbal, in that it's incredibly versatile. It's got defined stick definition, nice wash, crashability, and an overall nice sound. I prefer to use nylon tips to get a more defined ping than you would with wood tip, but that's just me. I'm considering switching to a 22" A Custom Ping Ride, but just because I think I want an even more defined ride. But as for this ride, it really is a very underrated cymbal. In stores it's hard to come by. I also rated value as a 4. It's not GC's fault, but Zildjian rides especially are pretty expensive. I bought this cymbal about a year and a half ago, and it cost quite a bit less. Bottom line, though: No matter what size you get this ride in, it's got a little bit of everything.
