I've always favored the A Customs and these hats don't disappoint. They have a nice crisp sound that can't be beat. I use ZHT Hi-Hats on my closed stand but the A Customs on the pedal stand for the excellent "swish" sound on a close to open hit. The smaller A Custom Mastersound Hi-Hats are great for recording but can be used for live performances too.
I was debating whether or not to pick up a pair of A Custom Mastersound Hi-Hats in terms of 14in after using my KCustom 13in hats but when I made the trade in to guitar center and picked these bad boys up, woa what a difference. Not only do they have versatility but they sound amazing. This is the perfect hi hat folks.
These hi-hats offer the best sound I've ever heard. I've always been impressed with the Zildjian A-Class, but these are one of the best parts of the whole line. They have a very crisp sound when closed, and they cut through the mix like no other when open. The only downside is that you have to keep them clean in order for them to keep their shine, but it's a small price to pay to have gorgeous looking cymbals. If these cymbals got stolen or cracked, I would immediatly replace them.
As an experienced player of heavy metal/progressive rock, I've gone through my share of cymbals (hats in particular). I've used all brands, most models, and have not found a more satisfying pair that the Zildjian A Custom Mastersound hats. Very clean, crisp sound, and extremely responsive and articulate, these cymbals are great for playing precise sequences while closed or cutting through the sounds of the stage when opened up. Recommend to anyone of all playing styles. However, if you're a VERY heavy player, you may want to stick to Z Customs, as they are a bit heavier and more durable. Thanks to Justin and Carlos at the Orlando Colonial store for setting me up with a sweet deal on these babies.
