By far, the most reliable crash I've ever had. It sounded amazing when I heard it at my local guitar center, sounded amazing when I took it home, sounded amazing at the first show I did with it, and still sounds amazing over two and half years later (yes, it has lasted that long). My set has undergone several changes over the past two years and this cymbal has been used for everything from main crash to ride/crash to accent-only crash. It goes with any kind of music and goes well. It is by far the most diversified crash I have ever had the joy of playing on. I would recommend this crash for anybody for any genre.

These sizes, from 14" to 20" in size...have VERY different sound. The kit at my school has a 17", which in my opinion sounds TERRIBLE. It's way too bright, doesn't have much "color", and surprisingly for a such a bright cymbal, doesn't have too much sustain, it even sounds kind of like my old B8 crash. The 19", on the other hand, blew me away, I was at GC and they had it on display with a DW Performance kit..Wow, that thing was beautiful, nice and complex shimmer, a nice long sustain probably due to the bell size, and the bell actually sounded great for a crash. Maybe it's just me, liking bigger and darker cymbals, but I'd recommend handing over a few extra bucks to get a bigger, better crash.

A flawless cymbal, but don't let it fall into the wrong hands

By Daniel

from Boston, Massachusetts

A bright, powerful, and dominating crash cymbal, the a custom crash cymbal is almost untouchable. But heed my advice and make sure you know how to hit a cymbal. I had the bad luck of mine cracking too soon most likely because of incorrect striking on the cymbal. But other than that, this is your cymbal. Buy it. There will be no regrets.

Best sounding cymbal I've ever used!.. But Brittle...

By Alexander

from CLackamas OR

The Zildjian Custom A series is by far the most brilliant and beautiful sounding line of cymbals I've ever experienced, but the quality of the cymbal itself is lacking. I've gone through 3 of the 20" models in the past year and a half due to insesive cracking around the edges. Granted I play hard rock/metal, but this still shouldn't be an issue. The sound is there but the durability is not. If you are a harder player I would recommend trying the Sabian AAX-plosion Stage Crash series. Much thicker and durable. But as I said these truly are beautiful looking and performing cymbals if it fits your needs so please don't thyink this is a generalized review because it most certainly is not. I love these cymbals more than most others, but they just aren't quite right for me. I recommenced these highly to anyone who is looking at higher end cymbals if at least just to experience some brilliance!

My Go-To Cymbals, Very Versatile

By Ryan Monaghan

from McPherson, KS

I use 18" and 19" Zildjian A Custom crashes, and I love them. They have a really clean even tone that is bright, but solid. They compliment my 21" Zildjian Sweet Ride perfectly. I had considered some Sabian crashes, but I found them to be more gongy than I would have liked. The Zildjian A Customs just seem to be a bit more clear. I like fairly bright cymbals, so the A Customs are perfect for me. They are a bit thinner around the edge than some other crashes, but I've had mine for several years now and have never had any problems with cracking.

brilliant cast bronze love.

By ed

from los angeles, ca

I own a lot from this tonal family of cymbals. i've always loved the a custom range because they produce cymbal sounds that i have always dreamed a cymbal to sound like. in my bag lives a pair of 15" a custom mastersounds, 17 a cst crash, 18 a cst crash, 19 a cst medium crash, 20 a cst crash, 21 a cst rezo ride, and a 22 a cst medium ride; and i love every one of them and am extremely reluctant to play anything else because the tone i get from these cymbals is extremely universal and incredibly clean sounding. whether you're using hot rods, mallets, brushes, or just plain hickory, these cymbals always insist on sounding fantastic. i tried out a lot of other cymbals and couldn't find any one particular tonal family that could feel as comfortable with as i do with the a customs; dont get me wrong, i own some k's and k customs as well, but a customs are the universal go-to's for those gigs with a lot of variety in song genre- so bright, crisp, clean and well spoken, while not overbearing or too pronounced. save some scratch and buy these because they are, flat out, amazing.

Nice Crash

By Davian

from Brooklyn

I had been looking for a cymbal that response with a great tone but on the modern side. Then I heard about the A. Customs and they sound great just the right crash for me it has a nice warm sound not to high not to low but with colorful sound definition I am planning on getting the 17 & 18 crash because they sound good.

Best sounding crash ive ever own

By Brooks

from Pasadena, Texas

Recently I've purchased my drum set piece by piece on craigslist to try to save some money. When I came upon the 19 in A Custom Crash I bought it because it was the right price. I've played on it for a year and it is the best cymbal I've ever played on by far. I love that it gives clear, distinct crash sound along with enough ring. This is definitely my go to crash and it fits every style I've played- rock, punk, country, metal, jazz and christian. This crash is the best cymbal i have and it is the only cymbal that I've played on that i think is definitely worth even the price of it brand new. I also think it can make a pretty descent ride when you play jazz. i hope this helps

I own 2

By kristiant

from Rio Rancho, NM

I have 2 of these cymbals. both are 18" versions. one is a fast crash, the other just a regular crash. I love these cymbals. I have quite an assortment of SABIANs and then these A Customs. A lot of times I jam in the garage along with recorded music just having fun. At the time, to me, my 16" SABIANS only sounded good in that venue, but when I jam with a live band I started using these A custom 18's and man, that is when I really fell i love with them. I there really isn't much difference that I have noticed between the two though. There is a slight difference in pitch but the decay of the two seems about the same to me. not really sure what the difference is then. You can take two regular A customs of the same size and all and get different sounds out of them so not sure what is going on there. Bottom line though is that I am satisfied (very) with both models. the 18s just give such a larger feel and sound to the music than the 16s. I still like the 16s as they are a bit more cutting but these are warmer and fuller. I highly recommend them.
