Members of the most popular and versatile series of cymbals, this Zildjian A Series New Beat Hi-Hat Pair can best be described as exuberant. All-purpose combination of stick and "chick" sounds.
The Zildjian New Beats are considered the classic, versatile hi-hat. These can be used in straight ahead rock, funky jazz, hard metal, or soft ballads. Basically, the New Beats are designed to perform in just about any condition. When I play a gig with different styles of music, the New Beats always make their way into the cymbal bag. The bottom is slightly heavy, providing some weight and projection. The top is about an average weight hi-hat cymbal, allowing for a range of dynamics and expressions from a slightly open sizzle to fully closed tick to wide open thrash. These cymbals project without being overly loud. The New Beats have been the standard for decades, and I see no reason why that shouldn't continue. Whether recording or live, the New Beats are one of the most versatile and satisfying pairs of cymbals I've played.

The Zildjian A Series New Beat Hi-Hats are very well suited for rock, funk and metal. They have a distinct "chick" when closed and are very loud and penetrating when played open. I bought the 13" sized diameter about three years ago and they have been holding up great with no signs of cracking soon. I would recommend these hi-hats in live situations, but not for recording because of their thrashy and un-refined sound. These traits also don't make them particularly ideal for jazz and blues.

Ziljian New Beat Hats are by far one of the best in any situation. I have to admit that I am a Ziljian Fan, maybe there is a reason why... I have played a lot of cymbals and Ziljian is always the cymbals that I end up playing when I want to find what I'm looking for. New beat Hi Hats has what every drummer wants to hear when you lift and close the hat or to a nice tight closed hat. If you want to hit a fine hat, Hit Ziljian New Beat Hats.

Zildjians A New Beat hi-hats produce an amazing sound for almost any style of music. I owned them up until recently when i decided to go with a 13" hi-hat instead of the 14". These cymbals have a great "chick" and excellent stick definition. The produce a very balanced open hi-hat sound as well. I would recomend these hats to anyone.

I went down to my local GC to compare different hi-hats to replace my A Custom reg hi-hats (just wanted a better sound). I'm pretty particular about the way my cymbals interact with each other, and the new beats definitely add to that synergy. They have that crisp chick while providing a great dynamic during both open and closed riding. I setup the A Custom Mastersounds, the A Custom Rezo and the A New Beats side by side, and the New Beats blew the others away. I guess there is a great reason why these are an industry standard.
