If you believe your cymbal has a factory defect:
1. Contact Zildjian to obtain a Return Authorization number (RA#), via telephone: 781-871-2200.
2. Indicate the location of the damage on the cymbal with a piece of tape.
3. Make a photocopy of your original numbered and dated sales receipt.
4. Carefully package your cymbal. Include your RA# and the photocopy of your sales receipt in the box.
5. Ship the package to:

Recently traded in my 14" K Custom Session high hats for the now discontinued 13" K Lights. Like Tim's review, I play often with brushes, rods, and VF AJ6s and 2s in a small, largely acoustic Christian group. The K Customs are lovely cymbals, but I feel the K Lights are an improvement for me in terms of definition and laid back sound. They produce a warm and distinct "chick" and respond musically to whatever dynamic you apply. They really reflect well the nuances of various sticks, brushes and mallets. I can play these open without overwhelming the singers. If you're in a jazz, acoustic, or easy listening situation these are an excellent choice. Love them. To reiterate, I have the 13" K Lights which are no longer available.
I play drums and percussion in an acoustic band, usually with rods and brushes. When I bought my kit, I went cheap on the cymbals until I figured out what I liked. My old hi hats were heavy Paiste 15" Prototypes. They sounded fine with heavier sticks but did not respond well to rods and brushes. Beyond the popular Zildjian hi hats, GC in my town didn't have much of a selection. I spent the better part of a morning listening to the sound samples on the Zildjian site and found that I really liked the thin, crisp response of the K Lights. I was a little nervous about spending this kind of money on hi hats without being able to play them but I trusted my ear and took a chance. I am very happy with them and would recommend them to any drummer who is looking for a thin, brighter sound. I went with the 14's.
The Zildjian K Light 15" Hi Hats have a warm sound that blends in perfectly with My Armand 21" Ride and 18"-19" A/K Thin/Medium Thin Crashes. They respond immediately to whatever you lay into them, may it be quick "barks" or riding 'em halfopen hence, very rewarding, playingwise. Tonally, these guys click, hiss and erupts with dark authority but not in an overwhelming way as they're very easy to control. I assume these are not the first choice for "bashers". If you're looking for some really versatile, musical, hi hats you should check these ones out!
