I just bought one, and immediately put my loved, though very heavy, Mesa Mark IV up for sale. This meets all my practice and gig needs, in one tiny little package! And, I will save a ton in chiropractic bills for no longer having to haul around a pound-per-watt archaic design. I play jazz, and what I want is a clean sound with lots of dynamic range. This amp has it. It gets a very nice dirty sound with the gain way up, if you want that. I play with gain at about 60%, and there it has a warm vintage clean sound with a smooth transition into dirty at the highest dynamics. Note, though, that you don't get 200 watts of clean from this amp. Maybe 40-80 watts, before the warm distortion kicks in. But, that's a real 40-80 watts, which is way more than I need for any gig I'll ever play.

This is a good little product. I don't write many reviews but I have something important to say here. This is a loud amp. You could use it for a band rehearsal or a small gig. It is also light and readily portable.

The negative about this product is the tone. Not only will it not sound like your beloved tube amp (I wouldn't expect that) but the tone is very flat and one dimensional. This is because there is no reverb and only one tone knob. If you plan to plug your guitar straight in, you won't like the tone.

Here is the secret. If you connect a pedal that has eq and reverb, you can get a nice warm sound out of this thing. I use a zoom ms100bt pedal as it gives me both eq and reverb in one small unit. There are other such devices but you need eq and reverb before this amp will sound good. Please give it a listen before you buy. I hope this was helpful.

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

Nice amp if you look for a device to carry around for small/medium gigs on a subway/bus in the city. Pretty powerful for its size for sure. It is kinda bummer that I have to carry around a reverb pedal to plug into it but what can I say-it's a nice sounding amp for a clean jazz. The lack of one star is due to some components issues: the input jacks are not of the highest quality and it can easily break. Mine started to act out during gigs for a loose connection.,and it is not a good feeling when u run it through the house pa(with a mic only). I wish I could replace it with a real switch craft at some point, and a real brass or chrome material...sounds like an easy job but the stock jack is hot glued to the board so u need an experienced tech to do that... The amp coating is nothing to write home about either, as it tends to peel off. Currently these amps are not cheap and I would expect ZT to address these issues-how about a recall..just kidding.. I would take a note from the Cube line of Roland re reliability vs price point.

The amp can get really loud and I like it mostly sitting on the floor for a better bass presence. I also got me a killer deal on the extension speaker and it really makes a difference volume wise. Even though there is an extra cable I have to connect with it, this amp and ext speakers beats any amp with regards to portability and power for the size.

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

Awesome analog tone very tube like but the amp looked like it was thrown together. The speaker grill is hot glues on and was loose. The handle was loose and one screw just kept turing. The face plate had marks on it where the input jack was installed as well as the nut that holds the jack to the plate was marked up all sign of a rush job at the factory. I retuned it and bought a Quilter tone block 200.

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

Priorities. If size to volume ration is yours, then this is it. Works with modeling or straight into amp if you are using single coils and just need a little grind. Tele sounds fine. Big sound for the size. Puts out about the volume of a 20watt tube amp.One unanticipated drawback is the limited extension cab options. You can get theirs for a reasonable price, but your probably looking at a 4 x12 otherwise to cover that 200w rating.
      PICK IT UP USED.
If tone to size ratio is your priority maybe for $500 you could do better for an additional 15 lb for a 20 watt tube amp.

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I was tired of schlepping my original 65 Blackface Deluxe Reverb, so I tried this beast in Guitar Center and immediately bought the amp... It really sounded quite close to the Deluxe with less bottom end... So I contacted the manufacturer to get the Extension Cabinet - WOW... I have been using this amp as my GIG amp. I have used this amp, with the extension cab, in a 5 piece Nashville Country Group, a 7 piece Memphis R&B Group, and even in a Trio setting... I have NEVER run out of headroom or TONE... Amazing - and the pair fit in my small "roller" suitcase - snicker... Everyone always laughs until I turn it ON... Then they all want to know "WHAT IS THAT"...

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

Great cleans, trully greats jazzy cleans (a little hard to get at high volume levels)
Love the sound when it start to break up also, plug a nice overdrive in that moment and you gonna be in the blues heaven.

About pedals: I use a JHS Morning glory for boost that sound that I mention, and a JHS Moonshine for more overdrive sound.
I also tried sometimes a TC electronics rottweiler high gain distortion and other similar pedals, and I can tell that the lunchbox take it very well at low volume levels, but amazingly with a 2x12 cabinet.

Great value good for rehearsal or live

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I got this in a Guitar Center sale for $175 and at that price it was too good not to get. I use a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe but didn't want to have to keep lugging that to band practice. The only reason I only gave it 4 stars was that I really need to use my Boss ME-70 multifx pedal modeling to get it to sound like a tube amp when I rehearse. But it does it so well. I am sure it would work great with any modeler. It is 5 stars for the value at the price I paid. I have to have the volume backed off or it would be too loud for rehearsal so I know I could use it live as a backup amp. It brought a smile to the faces of my bandmates when I first showed up with it but once they heard it they were amazed how capable it is. I have not regrets about getting this amp.

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is what I was looking for. The older I get, the more I look at the weight of an instrument, as well as its quality. I rehearsed in a 5 piece band with this device, and it was great. I could actually use it live for small venues. The only thing I added was a Boss/Fender reverb pedal, but will use an entire pedal board if I play live with it. For me, the 9.5 lb. weight is the most attractive feature.

Not a good high-power backup amp

        By Chris

        from Auburn, WA

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have a 60-watt Sovtek tube-amp and I thought this would make a great backup. It does have plenty of power to drive my 4x12 for clean sounds, but when pushed hard with a distortion pedal it adds its own unpleasant contribution, a trebly/hissy/splattery mush. Turning down the (master) volume fixes the problem but then its not very loud compared to my tube amp. I know its not a totally fair expectation, it is after all a solid-state amp and they're not known for sounding great when cranked. But this little guy is rated to put out 130 watts RMS into 8 ohms so it should have the raw power necessary to drive my cabinet without the tone falling apart so readily.
