32-Note Polyphony and 16-Part Multi-Timbrel
In electronic keyboards, the more sounds made at the same time ” polyphony ” the more memory is needed. Obviously, more is always better, because too little polyphony can cause dropouts in dense passages of music. The YPT-410 has 32 notes of polyphony and will play back 16 different parts or sounds at once (16-part multi timbrel); enough for the most demanding needs.
The YPT-410 takes full advantage of Yamaha's DSP know-how. It gives you an extensive range of 9 top-quality reverb effects that simulate playing in everything from a small room to a large spacious concert hall and 4 chorus effects that add richness to electric pianos and guitars in particular. You'll also find 26 types of Harmony effects for your melody part and 50 different Arpeggio patterns. Similar to the arpeggio functions provided on some synthesizers, this function automatically produces arpeggios (broken chords) when you simply play the appropriate notes on the keyboard. A variety of arpeggios can be produced by changing your fingering or the arpeggio type.
Just what the teacher ordered, a fully adjustable metronome is just a button push away.
Auto Accompaniment Styles
In addition to the 100 songs mentioned above, the YPT-410 also has auto accompaniment styles that follow your playing. Simply select a style of music from the 155 built-in Styles (example Rock), play a single note or chord on the left side of the keyboard, and play your melody on the right side. The YPT-410 will create a backup band (bass, drums, strings, guitar etc.) and follow you through the song. You can play your songs and try different genres of music. And if you can't find the right style for your song, simply go to Yamaha's website to preview from the selections, purchase, and transfer one to your keyboard (PC only).

I am learning keyboard right now and currently play in a band with some friends. This is pretty light keyboard and has a bunch of effects, with adjustment knobs to tweak the sounds. I play through a PA and it sounds just fine, I don't get any cracking with it or have any problems. Works great and would definitely recommend buying.
I currently own several keyboards, including another much more expensive Yamaha. The sounds in the keyboard aren't quite as good as the upper end boards, but with some adjusting on the eq's, it's not bad. It really comes alive when hooked to a keyboard amp. The onboard speakers are good for practice, but not sufficient in any way when performing live. 2 things it really needs is midi out and modulation control for the organs. All in all, a good board for the money.
I got this keyboard a while ago. The sounds are ok, nothing to write home about. What it lacks in quality it makes up for in quantity however, there are over a hundred different sounds (though some are very similar) with some options such as arpeggiator, which are fun to play with. But the terminal flaw with the keyboard, is when you plug it into an amp or speaker (the imbeded speakers are not very powerful) it clips out and sounds like a fuzzy chainsaw unless you put the output volume under 10%. Even for practice and jamming this is a huge problem, and it makes gigging with it totally impossible. I played an open mic with it, and even then it was hissing and cracking at about 8% volume. I do not recommend this piano.
What a great keyboard! Although not a groundbreaking keyboard or synth, this is definitely some bang for your buck. The keys aren't weighted, but they don't feel cheap either. There are 504 sounds on board, with the last few being sound effects. The default piano sound is gorgeous, and if you get a sustain pedal, it sounds just about as good as a stage piano. There are also knobs to adjust Chorus, Cutoff, Resonance, and a few other effects. You can also use this as a midi controller through USB, which is very cool. Overall, a great keyboard. If you have a kid that wants to get into piano or synthesizers, but you don't feel like spending gobs of money yet, this is a great start. It has many great synthesizer effects on it too.
