Overview

Power to go!
Yamaha's STAGEPAS 500 is for situations in which a little extra power and channel capacity is needed. It is an incredibly lightweight, portable, easy-to-use PA system consisting of a pair of high-performance speakers with a built-in powered mixer. You can be set up and playing in a matter of minutes, and then packed away and on the road again with the same ease and speed when you're done. And all of this is provided with no compromise in sound quality or versatility, plus some advanced features you normally wouldn't expect to find in systems in this class. Getting great sound for live performance used to be a big deal.

Dual 250-Watt amplifiers
Two 250-watt power amplifiers can fill surprisingly large clubs or rooms, or project your sound over a considerable distance outdoors. The class-D power amplifier has been painstakingly designed to deliver superior sound quality as well as reliability in a remarkably compact unit.

Versatile 10-channel Mixer with Monitor and Record Outputs
If there are more members in your band than the STAGEPAS 300's 8 input channels can handle, or you simply have a lot of sources to mix, the STAGEPAS 500 gives you 10 input channels in all: four mono microphone/line inputs and three stereo line inputs. The additional stereo channel can used for either a stereo or mono source. In addition to the main speaker outputs the mixer has line outputs that can be used to connect additional powered speakers for monitoring, and to send the mixer's output to a recording device.

Phantom Power for High-performance Condenser Microphones
The STAGEPAS 500 mixer features switchable phantom power for the four mono microphone/line inputs. This lets you use high-performance phantom-powered condenser microphones in situations where you want the extended, natural response they provide.

Built-in Channel Compression/Limiting, 2-band Channel EQ and SPX Digital Reverb
Channels 1 and 2 feature LIMIT/COMP switches that let you apply either limiting or compression to those channels. Limiting can be useful to prevent input overload and distortion with sources that have a wide dynamic range, while compression can add punch to vocals, bass, guitar, and other sources while smoothing out the sound and helping it to "ride" better in the mix. Like the STAGEPAS 300 mixer, the STAGEPAS 500 mixer has 2-band EQ controls on each channel, as well as REVERB switches on channels 1 through 4. A separate REVERB level control adjusts the reverb mix.

High-performance 10" 2-way Passive Speakers
STAGEPAS 500 speakers have 10" woofers and 1" high-frequency units. Both types deliver clean, high-quality sound. The speakers can be stand mounted without standard speaker stand adapters (Tripod pole diameter is 35 mm).

I recently purchased the Yamaha Stagepas 500 for our 3-4 piece combo. We wanted something to play small/medium venues. I went with the optional roller bags, and mic stand adaptor. I used it within a week of purchase at a private office holiday party. It was a snap to transport and set up (less than 15 minutes...two guitars, keys, bass, drum machine, two vocal mics and a CD player). The sound was pure/clear in a room of over 150 guests. The built in compression, limiter, phantom power and reverb worked great! We delivered crisp highs. The vocals cut through with ease. I was surprised at the level of low end produced from the 10 inch speakers. Guests, some of whom are musicians, commented on how great the sound was. Because of its small size, coffee house/restaurant owners no longer get that concerned look on their faces as in previous gigs where we carted in SV-115 cabs, dual QSC power amps, monitors, etc. If you want great quality sound for small to medium venues that won't break your bank or your back, look no further. There's nothing better for the price.

I have a professional bmx stunt team and we purchased this to do shows outdoors and we have had issues from day one with it cutting off. We thought is was the amp at first but after exchanging the units turned to the wireless mic system and still have the same problem with it going into protection if it is used outdoors in the heat. Not Impressed at all.

Great speaker system

By

Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:

This portable Pa system is great. I DJ small parties in my basemen. It sounds very good. Originally i wanted the Fender but when we compared the two these were way better. They are very light weight and easy to climb stairs with. I'm only 13 so that should tell you how light they are. They mixer because your can have it on either speaker or some where else. The 8 channels are great and you can plug in a monitor or headphones with ease. Overall this is a great unit and i definitely recommend it!

Crystal clear, lightweight P.A.

By

from Astoria, NY

Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:

I got this P.A. for my trio -- vocals, bass, and guitar. Sometimes also keyboard. It handles all of us and the sound is crystal clear. It is also much easier to transport than the previous P.A. I was using which was super heavy. This one is extremely user-friendly. Also, I love the fact that the mixer sits in the back of one of the speakers. Only two drawbacks that I can think of: - It only comes with 3-ft-long speaker cables. Depending on what you're using the system for, 3 ft is nowhere near long enough. - I wish the EQ options included mids, but it's just his and lows. Still, GREAT P.A.

GREAT UNIT

By

from Concord, Ca

Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:

My husband bought this for me for Christmas, and although I had only ever used a Fender Passport System, they told me to try it out, and if I did'nt like it I could bring it back and exchange it for the Fender that I origianally wanted. I LOVED IT !! We even brought a Fender Passport 500 unit over to compare side by side, and the sound quality is definately better. I am a karaoke DJ, and used this unit in bars/clubs with NO problems or issues !! It is a fantastic unit !! I would definately reccommend it for a portable system.

sounds great

By

from St. Augustine, FL

Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:

This is my first PA and I've had it about a week. I'm going to be playing acoustic solos & duos in small to mid-size bars, plus some parties. From what I can tell, the Stagepas 500 will work perfectly. Although I've never set up a PA, this takes me about 10 minutes at the most to get up and running. I have a Roland processor that I wasn't sure I'd be able to run through the PA, but it works perfectly. Sounds great plugging straight in or through the processor. Plenty loud for my purposes. Really clean sound. I've read other reviews where folks aren't crazy about the reverb, and maybe I don't know any different, but it sound fine and adds some ambiance to guitar and vocals. I have no complaints. Can't imagine an easier setup. Like I said, I've never messed with a PA and I was able to figure it out without a problem.

Great value and performance

By

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:

Just bought this at Guitar Center a few days ago. I have it hooked up to a Yamaha P140 digital piano at home and the sound is magnificent at both moderate and higher levels. Haven't heard any distortion yet. My piano is finally showing off the concert grand sample it's got and it's hard to tear myself away and get any other work done. I can't wait to try it out in a venue where the higher volumes won't bring the neighbors knocking!

Love this!

By

from Corona, CA

Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:

I recently purchased the Stage Pass 500 about 2 months ago and I have to say I love it. Itۡs so easy to set up and tear down. The power is perfect for the restaurants and small clubs that I play in, I play saxophone with background tracks. I was looking at powered speakers at first; however the size and bulkinessۡ of the speakers would have been too much, not too mention trying to fit them in Toyota Prius with all my other equipment, no way! I have to say Iۡm very happy with the stage pass 500 and would recommend them to any soloist musician.

This is the Best

By

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Yamaha Stagepas 500 Portable PA System:

I recently used this system at an outdoor venue SOX park (in Chicago) with my blues group. The Yamaha Stagepas 500 performed perfectly. It was clear and projected over my Fender blackface twin, organ w/leslie, bass and drums. Our group had no problem hearing our female vocalist and we did not need monitors! Do not let the small size fool you, this system is a monster and the best value for the money. It is portable, light weight and highly suitable for small to medium venues gigs including outdoor gigs. I was planning to spend several thousand dollars on a PA system but will now save a ton of money. It is highly recommended.
