Overview

The Yamaha PCY90AT is a large 10-inch cymbal pad with attachment to rack system. Updated for more natural feel and quietness, you will notice the difference from other cymbals when playing legato.

In addition, when you play this cymbal pad with the DTX400 series kits you can play both edge and cup sound by changing the dynamics of your strike. You cannot attach the PCY90AT cymbal attachment to a HEXRACK (e.g. HXR4LD).

Before you purchase a pad, refer to the pad compatibility table to make sure that you can connect the pad to your drum trigger module (tone generator).

didn't work out for me

By joe merola

from leonardo,NJ

I, like the last reviewer purchased this cymbal as a cheaper alternative for a splash for my DTX522K. I was having intermittent crosstalk issues that I could not control with my 502 mod so it's not going to work for me. I will be exchanging for the pcy 155 and will use one of my pcy 100 for the splash as I have all ready tested it and it did not produce any crosstalk issues.

Decent add on cymbal for the price but cymbal arm not the best

By Brian Goulet

from Plainville, CT

First off, I bought this to add a cheap splash over my hihats for my Roland TD12kx. Seems to trigger well and as described, it is one-zone and no choke. The GOOD: nice value, decent triggering, comes with arm, rack clamp and L clamp to prevent cymbal from spinning around. The Not-so-Good: It is rather hard and the rubber section is much louder than my other cymbals. Also The included arm is pretty much useless to me.Due to my rack, the included arm was too short to really mount where I needed it over the hihats so I ended up using a standard boom arm/clamp and modified an older felt and plastic washer to accommodate the included L clamp and cymbal. Rolands cymbals mounts with the arced plastic mounts are far superior and provide more cymbal swing and realistic movement than the flat felt. All in all, not bad for price and if you can use the arm, a much better value for an add on.

Affordable way to expand your Yamaha DTX series e-drum kit

By Sean Munoz

from Sacramento, CA

I own a Yamaha DTX520K and have expanded it from 8 to 11 total inputs by adding two of these PCY90AT cymbals plus a single PCY135 cymbal. Although these cymbals are only SINGLE zone and don't support "choke" vs. the 3-zone/chokeable PCY100/135/155, the module's expansion inputs #9-12 only support single zone anyway. This package comes with all the necessary mounting hardware and a TRS cable to attach to your rack and module, so it's a great value. If you add more than one of these to your system, you'll also need to buy a "Y-Cable" that plugs into your module's Tom1, 2 or 3 jack, which GC sells as item #100131181. Overall, these cymbals are very durable and still responsive, although not as responsive as the PCY100/135/155 cymbals. They also feel more light, rigid and plastic vs. solid and rubbery. Although you can increase this cymbal's sensitivity in the module, when I want a play with a softer-touch that still registers, I find myself striking the hard-plastic center/cup instead of the rubberized bow or edge. As a quick and affordable way add a crash, splash/trash, or china cymbal or a cowbell to all of your Yamaha DTX preset drum kits, this is the way to go! Enjoy.
