I bought this guitar as my first guitar with the help of one of my friends fathers (he was a in a german rock-band, a fairly big one) he got me this guitar and a 65 watt crate amp for under 400, giving it really good value, (guitar was about 150$) I play every-day generally for about an hour and a half and it hasn't broken on me once, the tone and sound are good, all the songs I play are recognizable, now this has great sound and quality for a guitar of its price, it can't match up to the tone of a les paul, but it is still very good, I would reccomend this guitar to all beginners and intermediates (though maybe as a back-up if your almost a really-good guitarist) the only two bad points I can give to this guitar are that it un-tunes fairly easily, and the low E-string hits the fret-board a lot if you try to play to loudly (but you can just turn the volume up)

Its an OK guitar. There's not really anything wrong with it, but even a beginner will find themselves wanting something better. Its neck is my main complaint, it is very narrow, and leaves my fingers very cramped on open chords. The action is also not very good, its fairly high, and even with .10's I can't lower it to a comfortable level. Fortunately, it sounds pretty good and the finish look fantastic, but that doesn't make up or the fact that this is the most uncomfortable strat I've ever played. All in all, a decent beginner guitar but a few more dollars will yield a far better guitar.

Comments about Yamaha PAC012DLX Pacifica Series HSS Deluxe Electric Guitar:

In the 20+ years that I've been playing electric guitar (over 10 years on stage with different bands) I've owned some great instruments from Fender MIM Strats to American series to a Gibson Custom V and I could go on and on naming the various boutique instruments I've owned over the years. After falling on some difficulties in life and finally picking myself back up I was looking for a low cost but high quality electric guitar that could do everything I needed it to do and the Yamaha Pacifica 012DLX is exactly that. For the price, I really don't think anything else can beat the Yamaha Pacifica. After playing so many and owning so many strats through the years, this Pacifica has me scratching my head at why I ever spent all the money I did when I could have just picked one of these up. The neck is smooth, fast, and fat the way I like. It's kind of in between a Gibson neck feel and a Fender neck feel. With the flattened fretboard radius, fingerpicking is as much a breeze as anything else on this Pacifica sitting next to me. There's something about the way that neck is made and the way Yamaha cuts the contours for the body that make this a simply more comfortable guitar to hang onto and to play on. You know a great guitar by how it plays unplugged, and the Yamaha Pacifica delivers even on that front which fully surprised me at this price. Plugging this thing in made all my dreams come true. The single coils have THAT sound if you know what I mean, and the humbucker on this thing is far above and beyond what I would expect in this range. Clean, reverb, overdrive and dirty, no effects, flanger, everything sounds great with this guitar. It's a versatile workhorse and I can't wait to take mine on stage just to show folks you don't need to spend thousands of dollars on gear. People say this is the best beginner guitar and it is certainly that, but pros need to take a second look at the Yamaha Pacifica.

Comments about Yamaha PAC012DLX Pacifica Series HSS Deluxe Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for about 15 years. Mostly blues and rock. I play with a group every other week. My guitar was purchased used. One pot is a splitter and allows the humbucker to be played as a single ciol. The switch in the 2nd and 4th position use the 1st and 2nd, then the 2nd add 3rd. They are reveresed wired so the humbuck each other. The neck radius is very flat (13.5 inch) which allow for deep bending without fretting out, which is what I like.I made the action very low. Again no buzzing. I don't see it as a detrament to chord playing. Play with single coils, you've got a stratochaser. Throw in the humbucker and you've got a Les Paul. Very versitile. Feels as heavy as a mohogony body.

    Swiss Army Knife of Guitars

Comments about Yamaha PAC012DLX Pacifica Series HSS Deluxe Electric Guitar:

I bought this because I loved my early 90's Yamaha SG, and was hoping that it would sound something like it. I have 13 guitars and my Yamaha RG was always the one that packed the most impressive tone as well as playability. I bought this guitar and it needed a truss rod adjustment and after I set it up plugged it in I was really surprised. It sounds like my 70's Strat with a PAF in the Bridge. It is now one of my favorite recording guitars, I can get a very broad palette of sound and playability for a affordable price. I plan on looking at some of the other models.

Comments about Yamaha PAC012DLX Pacifica Series HSS Deluxe Electric Guitar:

I have owned a Gibson SG and an Ibanez or two in the last 22 years. I liked the simplicity of a stop bar tailpiece, the growl of two well placed and crafted humbuckers. I have played strats here and there, but they just weren't for me. I picked this guitar up today and I never knew what I was missing out on. As for the guitar, I can't tell much difference in the sound of this as opposed to the top strat-style manufacturers out there. It has a fast action and the neck just feels nice. I am getting back into guitar after a very long hiatus and none too seriously, so I went cheap. I am glad I did. After all these years I finally realize my first music teacher was right: If you know how to play, you can make any instrument sound good. I would say pair this up with a decent sounding amp and you will not be disappointed.

This was my first guitar, and it has been a great choice. I wasn't sure if I was going to continue playing, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. Seven years later, I'm still going strong. I have acquired a few nicer guitars, but my old Pac012 is my knock-around guitar and stays in the living room, where it is always within reach. It gets played every day. It stays in tune and has a nice feel. For an inexpensive guitar, it does a great job.

Comments about Yamaha PAC012DLX Pacifica Series HSS Deluxe Electric Guitar:

I own a few Yamaha electrics, including this one. You cannot do any better than this, even in the higher price range. Solid build, strong sound, exstemely playable neck, looks great. If you want to pay more to have a big name on the headstock, you're only paying for that name, because this guitar sounds great, and actually plays even better than the Fender chunkier neck.

Not the Best for the Price.

Comments about Yamaha PAC012DLX Pacifica Series HSS Deluxe Electric Guitar:

I tried this guitar at the store and noticed that everything was good compared to other guitars in this price range. But the sound was not as good as guitars like the Squier Affinity Strat which has a much brighter and cleaner sound. If you are not looking for a really bright and clean sound, then stick to this guitar because it is the next best thing in this price range.

Ok guys you will think I am crazy but here is my story. I own few pacificas and Gibson and PSR and Custom Strats. Last two years I am using Yamaha Pacifica 012 as my primary guitar. I picked it from my friend and I liked it so much and can't stop playing it. I will show up in studio with it and producent will laugh till he hear the sound this guitar have. If you don't trust me just go in music store and try this guitar. Also it stays in tune forever and you can mess with tremolo and everything. So begginer or pro just try this guitar and you will see I am not lying.
