Overview

The Yamaha P-95 digital piano gives musicians the dynamic, high-quality sound and natural, piano-touch response they expect from Yamaha, along with a high quality, built-in speaker system. No compromises, just Yamaha quality.

Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) keyboard with matte finish of black keys:
Just like on a traditional acoustic piano, the keys of the lower notes have a heavier touch, while the higher ones are more responsive to lighter playing. The keyboard's sensitivity can even be adjusted to match your playing style. The Yamaha P-95 keyboard's graded hammer technology also enables the instrument to provide authentic touch in a lightweight instrument. The matte finish of the Yamaha digital piano's black keys enhances its luxurious appearance.

Compact, stylish design:
The attractive, slim, lightweight design of the 88-key digital piano suits virtually any interior dcor, and occupies less space than most coffee tables. No piano movers required.

Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) dynamic stereo sampling:
The AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) is a sampling system which creates the realism of an acoustic instrument by using digital technology to record the piano's sound and applying high-quality digital filter technology to the recorded audio samples. The waveform of the sound created by playing the key of an acoustic piano differs depending on the playing strength from pianissimo to fortissimo. AWM dynamic stereo sampling can produce such dynamic nuances by recording samples of various playing strengths. The greater the number of samples used, the higher the expression.

Built-in stereo speaker system:
This Yamaha digital piano uses highly efficient amplifiers that pack more sound into a lighter digital piano. With 6 watts per channel, these keyboards are ready to go whenever you are.

Essential sounds:
This Yamaha keyboard features an array of commonly used sounds such as grand pianos, electric pianos, organs, harpsichords, vibraphones, strings, and new choir and jazz organ sounds. Each of these sounds has been recorded and recreated with Yamaha's unrivaled attention to detail.

50 preset piano songs:
A selection of 50 different piano songs is provided for your listening pleasure. These recordings were chosen for their beauty as well as their functionality. Since many of the songs included in the Yamaha P-95 are classic piano pieces, anyone taking lessons can listen to them for reference.

i've never owned a keyboard, and all my life ive been playing on an upright. i went in looking for something that i could take to college, that would feel like a real piano, and would sound like a real piano. the p95 is weighted so nicely, that i cant even tell im playing on a keyboard. however, if you dont like the feel, you can adjust the weighting. the sound is so crisp, and loud even without an amp. also, its so nice to be able to plug in my headphones and play all night. it has 10 different voices, but you can combine two voices together, which makes about 50. it completely surpassed my expectations, and its even better than my upright.

I wanted this keyboard for months after reading about it and playing it a little at the store. Now after owning it for just 3 days, I am packing it all back up and returning it. The problem? This keyboard has very harsh, unrealistic electronic-sounding overtones to its higher keys when holding down notes or sustaining them with the pedal. It happens through the speakers and headphones and I've tried different sustain pedals. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you spend some time at the store listening for what I'm talking about... especially with headphones, before purchasing this item. This keyboard is completely un-recordable.

Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:

Great value at the sale price. I use primarily for home rehearsal and the built-in speakers are a big positive. Its not my stage keyboard but I would not hesitate to use it in a pinch. If you need something to improve your skill level or just to enjoy playing, this is a great keyboard.

Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:

The unit was delivered quickly, with no damage to the box or contents.

The action and sounds are great, of excellent quality for the price of this unit. Yamaha did an great job with the samples and dynamic response of the piano samples in particular.

Unit has a wall wart, which is a pretty poor design choice on Yamaha's behalf, because there is plenty of room on the chassis for an IEC connector and a power supply on the internals. I'm kind of sick of companies not wanting to put the AC power supply in a unit because they don't want to spend the testing cost to get it qualified by UL or TUV.

No MIDI through connector is a minor quibble, but not a show stopper.

Overall, a great value for the money!

Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:

I have played from weinstein, yamaha, steinway and bosendorfer. If we compare P95 to this grands of course it will fall flat for it will not have a natural non-processed reverbs and reflections and the keys of course will be heavier and un-realistic.

But if we compare this to its price point competitions it is more than average. That's why I give it a 4 star.

not perfect but definitely not average.

I've been ordering from Musicians Friend for 7 years now. I've ordered several American Fenders, a Martin acoustic, and now a Yamaha piano. I've always received top notch instruments . I've never had a bad experience. They will always be my go to company.

Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:

So very disappointed in this YUGO version Yamaha has produced. This is the worst keyboard I have seen or played next to the ones you get in the kids toy section or a cheap electronic store. Please save yourself the trouble and time by getting a better keyboard. I regret this purchase. Yamaha has been great, until they built this.

Fantastic Keyboard!!! Great value for theprice. Weighted keys, everything you would find in a more expensive unit. Might be a bit on the heavy side, but it isn't for touring!!! Set it up in your music room and just enjoy!!!

Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:

I bought this piano primarily for use as a relatively inexpensive controller for my Motif synth and PC sound samples. Secondary uses include just practicing, learning/writing new pieces and just casual noodling. Since I'm using it mostly as a controller, built in sounds are not a major concern - although I find them sufficient for my secondary uses.

                Very Happy

                By Nick Hudnot

                from Los Lunas, NM

Comments about Yamaha P95 88 Key Digital Piano:

I'm very happy with the P-95. I'm a student of piano/keyboard, so not the most experienced in the world (but it says something to me that there are gigging/pro musicians who happily use this keyboard for certain applications), but to my fingers, the piano action feels very realistic, and the sound is good. My goal was to obtain a keyboard that has a realistic piano sound, a realistic piano feel, and a good harpsichord patch so that I can indulge my interest in old baroque music (especially Bach). On all three counts, I am satisfied. Having sampled a variety of instruments in this price range, I truly feel that Yamaha stands above the competition. I also feel that this keyboard is a great value. I studied harpsichord for a year in college, and wanted to be able to achieve a reasonable harpsichord sound. The harpsichord voice on the P95 is good. It could be better, but it is good - good enough for me. I'm glad that they didn't go for a very "grand" sounding harpsichord, as one might hear on a heavy metal record, but a more mellow sounding instrument, more like what I've actually played - a simple instrument with one set of strings engaged. I also admire that Yamaha has the good sense to make their harpsichord patch NON-touch sensitive. The action is still piano action (which is fine with me now - I doubt I'll buy or play a real harpsichord), but the sound and dynamics are harpsichord enough for me. A few of the other voices seem nicely usable - especially one of the electric pianos and the jazz organ. I didn't really buy this thing for a bunch of nice voices, though; I'd be satisfied with one good piano voice, and this easily does that. To me the only weakness of this instrument is that it doesn't get that loud. But it's plenty loud for me and what I need right now. I'm very happy with it!
