Overview

Stellar onboard effects enhance the high-performance Yamaha MG24/14FX 24-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects. The 16 mic/line channels and four stereo line channels give you plenty of inputs. With 16 first-quality mic preamps for low-noise, transparent amplification. Switchable either singly or in groups of eight. All channels have 3-band EQ with sweepable midband for precision mixing. All mono channels have insert I/O for outboard signal processing and switchable high-pass filter for cutting out unwanted low frequencies. Talkback capability is provided for communication with stage.

XLR balanced stereo and mono outputs. Mono outputs can be used for driving subwoofers and include a sweepable low-pass filter.

14 buses offer convenient routing options. These include the main program bus; four stereo channel bus pairs for grouping channels, six aux buses (four pre or post, two effects sends), and two internal effect buses for the dual effects processors.

Dual SPX digital effect processors are on separate buses, so 2 separate effects can be engaged at the same time. The 16 pro-quality SPX digital effects include reverb, delay, pitch change, chorus, phasing, vocal doubling, tap delay, and more. Parameters can be adjusted to customize effects.

The Yamaha Mg24/14FX is a great medium-size mixer for sound reinforcement and recording jobs where you need expert control without a backbreaking experience! This mixer delivers professional level sound performance and has two internal DSP sound effects modules so you don't have to carry racks of outboard FX gear. I do small-to-medium PA and recording and this mixer is an outstanding value for the price if you don't have to handle more than 16 to 24 sources at one time!

I bought this mixer 3 years ago. I used this mixer in my home personal studio. It never left my climate controlled house. I started getting crackling sounds when I used the assign buttons, then the stereo bus started crackling. I took it to the shop and they said it would cost 500 bucks for all new switches. I now have an expensive boat anchor. I'll look at buying a Soundcraft next time.

Comments about Yamaha MG24/14FX 24-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

Updated our old Yamaha MX400 and switched out in 10 minutes. The two built-in effects mixes are very nice, but took some doings to incorporate as owner's manual is pretty vague. The high-pass sub output send saved us a crossover and matches well with our Yamaha 18" subs. The 4 stereo inputs were upgraded to include two well-planned mids and faders. Internal/external routing features are superb. Love the on/off channel LEDS. Just two things to be a perfect mixer: 1) wish they would have added the 8 channel "auto-compression" found on other models ... 2) be nice if Yamaha would add 2 more pre-fader aux sends for on stage monitor mixes. Super quiet and very clean. Easy to use, even my 11 year grand-daughter can run it. Hard to believe it only cost [$] for this beauty of a mixer. Glad we bought it, so will you. PS: I have used Yamaha equipment for over 35 years, starting with a "EM100"

Perfect for Live Sound

By Steimy

from Oregon

Comments about Yamaha MG24/14FX 24-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

I bought this mixer new when they first came out. It's been moved from gig to gig, bounced around in the truck and still does everything as good as the first day. Plenty of aux sends, I use the onboard FX for snare reverb & the other for a vocal doubler (I have 1 verb & 2 delays in the FOH rack). It sounds clean, works great as a live board, and one of these days I'll buy another for a backup (just in case). I've used Yamaha boards for years and love them...I've never had a bad one!

Comments about Yamaha MG24/14FX 24-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

I bought my console here at M.F. back in Dec. 2006(4 years old now). It arrived in less than a week. Quality is more than I expecteded for the money. Infact the price was $899.99 back then so Yamaha has gotten smart and did see the value in this board. equaly so on the 32 channel... I own and operate a small live sound reinforcement production company(venue size up to 500 ppl.)and have not had to think of getting a larger board so far... As others have said run don't walk because with the way the fuel prices are going up it will only be a matter of time before all your wishful and much needed gear will soon rise too... My clients all rave on how clear my sound is and think this MG24/14FX costs two to three times more than what I paid for it.. For an analogue mixer I could not be HappierGreg L.

Only three things missing on this mixer!

By Michael Anderson

from Jacksonville, FL

Comments about Yamaha MG24/14FX 24-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

I love this mixer, its overall sound is satisfying, the on-board FX are good (not great), and all the controls are set-up in an ergonomic manner tailored to my likes. There are only three things missing however, 100mm faders and the EQ on the mono inputs and stereo channels are lacking (think Allen & Heath), and there are not individual meters for each mono channel (like the Mackies have in its price range). Granted, one of the nice aspects of shorter faders, is the ability to write on the space above the faders (channel assignments). I suppose re-designing the frame to accommodate 100mm faders, would probably make for a more ungainly-sized mixer. For the money, however, I don't think you can beat its features and overall quality! I've done some research on boards in this price range, and I can't find another as capable, and not having to deal with a lot of extra outboard processing.

A GREAT buy

Comments about Yamaha MG24/14FX 24-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

Just hooked this up to my new PA project. Had to save some money so after reading the reviews I settled for the Yamaha. Lots of signal everywhere and very clean. Yes, we'd all love to spend 5-10k for a board but if you can't.....buy the Yamaha. A great live board. Haven't tried the on-board effects yet but we all have our preferences on that anyway. Probably road worthy in the appropriate case. For the price it is a steal.

Run...Don't Walk...

Comments about Yamaha MG24/14FX 24-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

...to your nearest dealer to get this board if you're in the market for a live desk. I don't know how Yamaha does it, but this thing performs in a way that belies it's VERY reasonable price and keeps up with the big boys. The preamps are quite good and overall sound is as good as what you put into it...in other words the "sound" of the desk never gets in the way. Routing is extremely flexible with 4 auxes and two effects sends per channel to go with a comprehensive set of in/out connectors at the back as well. The channel functions are all you would need for almost any scenario and with the grouping and overall very good sound, you could use this desk for recording as well. The desk has seen good use and I've never had it do anything other than what I expected it to do and always in an exemplary fashion. Now take a look at the price on this thing and then go buy one before they realize their mistake! Yes...it's that good of a deal.-john

NepRock Records

Comments about Yamaha MG24/14FX 24-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

I run a live sound production business, small shows with up to 800 people and work with local bands... I recently bought this mixer with a lot of research and I tell you people do not think twice... this is the best mixer for this price range. I would say that in today's world, it would have been better if they upgraded it a little more with firewire connections and digital outs. Other than that, you can route signals in so many different ways that you will be amazed. I see that people are complaining about the manual being not so helpful, but manuals only tell you what the buttons are and what they do not how to do it. So you gotta have some knowledge about mixers to understand the mixer but there is really nothing to learn with this mixer. Just play around with it and you'll get it.IF LIVE SOUND IS YOUR THING, GET THIS MIXER... THIS BEATS BEHRINGER AND THE REST OF THE CHEAPOS OUT THERE... THE ONLY THING I FOUND OUT THERE THAT IS BETTER THAN THIS IS "ALLEN & HEATH" MIXERS AND THEY COST A LITTLE MORE.

The Best Mixer for the Price

By Daniel Clark

from McMinnville Oregon

Comments about Yamaha MG24/14FX 24-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects:

This Mixer is THE BEST THING FOR THE MONEY!!!This mixer is extremely good even better than a Mackie, especially for live use. I used to own a Mackie and they do not even compare in tonal quality. Mackie's always have that "Mackie" sound to them and it is OK for studio use but when it comes to live sound this Yamaha is clear and it also provides nice clear hot signals ones that you in large venues or anywhere else. The preamps in this board are the clearest I have Ever heard with an extremely good musical 3 band semi-parametric EQ with sweepable midrange. For the money this board CANNOT BE BEAT!!!!.
