A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement)
A.R.E. is an original wood reforming technology developed by Yamaha. Through precise control of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years.
New Designed Bracing Pattern
A modified non-scalloped bracing design retains the L series' characteristic bright tone while enhancing low-end tone.
High Comfortable Traditional Neck Profile
A reevaluation of string spacing, string height, fingerboard binding, and neck taper led to a new neck shape that better fits today's traditional players. The new design offers stable grip and smooth playability over the full length of the neck.
The 5-ply neck of mahogany and rosewood designed with a volute at the headstock plus a double action adjustable rod creates a neck with excellent strength and stability.
SRT Zero Impact Pickups
The SRT Zero Impact Pickup system is a newly developed passive type pickup configuration designed to minimize the pickup's impact on the tone and traditional appearance of the instrument. The system utilizes individual piezoelectric elements for each string to faithfully reproduce the dynamic sound of the L Series and give the instrument outstanding presence when playing in a band.

Comments about Yamaha LS16M L Series Solid Mahogany/Spruce Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I picked this up because I like small body guitars. I was blown away by the tone that came out of this little guy. The Good: the price ($699.00). If that seems high, consider the guitars specs- It is a solid Englemann Spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. Not laminate and not sapele. The guitar is balanced with incredible sustain and very responsive to fingerstyle. It looks great with full gloss finish and even has maple binding! It does have plastic pins, saddle and nut but these things can be fixed after market. I would also take the pickguard off but that is a matter of taste. The neck was dead on straight and had a truss rod built in. Nice woody tone when strummed and beautiful note separation when fingerpicked. And for me, the biggest benefit is that the amazingly strong 5 piece neck has a 1 3/4" nut. It also has a full profile all around so may not be a comfortable guitar for those with small to average hands. Looks really nice too. Great quality mahogany and maple binding- the top wasn't the nicest spruce I've seen but I'm not all that familiar with Englemann. I have a Breedlove with a gorgeous sitka top with great "silking". The Bad: Not much really. It is made in China and there is sloppy glue work on the inside. Kinda silly when using these quality woods really. Why not just take a little more time? I guess when you gotta make 100 per day you just have to hurry. There are some cheap appointments as mentioned earlier but if you tricked this guitar up you could still keep it under a grand and it sounds just killer. the Ugly: Nothing. Great feeling and looking guitar especially for the cash. I'm gonna step on some toes here, including MINE. This guitar sounds AND plays better than many TOP BRAND guitars- I will not name names, you know who they are. This guitar plays nicer than my Breedlove which I paid $200 more dollars for. If I had known 6 years ago what I know now about acoustic guitars I would have bought this instead and used the savings to upgrade the pins, saddle, electronics and tuners.
