The pedals along with the stand are a great way to turn the "slab" piano into something more like an upright if you don't plan to move it regularly. While very stable, the pedal section is particularly subject to breaking trying to transport the piano intact and I have seen it happen. Biggest positives are that the pedal is mounted and stays in place which can be a major problem with portable pedals and secondly that you get all 3 traditional piano pedals as opposed to just sustain with the portable pedals. I would like to have seen either metal pedals or at least pedals shaped like regular piano pedals rather than the more blunt shape and thicker than traditional piano pedals. Even Yamaha's portable pedals that came with some of the keyboards have had the traditional pedal shape and made of metal. As another reviewer I think noted, my main negative is that the pedals themselves are a little too high off the floor (partly due to the above mentioned thickness)(as well as higher off the floor than regular piano pedals), which makes it difficult to rest your heel on the floor as you play. This is further complicated by the stand placing the keys a little high, meaning you have to raise your stool which ends up making it even more difficult to place your heel on the floor for shorter people. The product is still workable and useable, but could be a whole lot better.

Work decently but a few issues: -The way they feel when in the L-85 stand just doesn't feel quite right. I feel like I have to be holding my foot up pretty high. Maybe the overall height/ergonomic adjustment of my setup isn't right and I'm just noticing it in the pedals, but I find the cheap little sustain pedal that came with the keyboard to be much more comfortable to operate -The pedal-induced sound changes aren't quite right. Sometimes the sustain seems to hold too long or not long enough. Can't really figure out if they have variable effects depending on how hard/fast pushed. But it seems inconsistent at times. -The force required to push the pedals seems a little too much -They are grey, when the rest of the stand is black. An odd aesthetic choice. But they do fit nicely into the L-85 stand and I don't know what else you would buy for it, as you do need to have at least 2 pedals (soft and sustain) to play.

Comments about Yamaha LP5A Sustain Foot Pedal:

Probably not worth the money in one sense... the "sewing machine like pedal" had better sustain, but this has three pedals to it, and not just one. It is a bit thicker than a real piano pedal because of the part that is below it, I suppose, but at least my students will have the experience of having three pedals to choose from instead of just the one. I chose a white piano, but this part did not come in white, so that was a disappointment. I would only recommend to a rich friend who had the money to burn and felt three pedals were important to the playing experience.

Comments about Yamaha LP5A Sustain Foot Pedal:

I have a pedal within a digital piano, of course, a too electronic style, rather than a real pedal. so this one is similar to real piano pedal, stable and easy to install, but the first time I received a broken one, so I returned it, what I am saying is about the second one

Great pedals! They make my keyboard look more professional. They have a great feet response when I press them down, just like a baby grand piano. This is a must for the Yamaha P-90!

The height of the pedals required I retract my foot at an uncomfortable angle so I stopped using it. Otherwise, the unit was nice looking, stable, and easy to assemble.

Comments about Yamaha LP5A Sustain Foot Pedal:

This pedal unit is a wonderful addition to complete my electric piano. All the pedals work perfectly and help immensely since they don't slide around like the single, plug-in keyboard pedals. The only con is that the pedals are higher off the ground than acoustic piano pedals, so it's harder to rest your heal on the floor, especially for my young piano students. But it does the job and overall I'm very happy with it!

Foot Pedal too close, can't stretch the legs

        By Hikari Ikeda

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Yamaha LP5A Sustain Foot Pedal:

The reason I put just 5 stars is the pedal is put very close to the legs and doesn't give enough leg room. When pedaling, I feel like I'm bending my legs unnecessary sharp and after a while, I feel tension in my knees. When not using the pedal, if I really want to make my position comfortable, I have to put my feet on top of the bar of the pedal, which is, of course, not good. I think it's because the demention (depth) of the stand is not deep enough so maybe it's not the pedal, but the stand... but I'm not happy about this. I really hope the manufacturer will correct this problem soon in the future.
