The alternatives to this kick pad were twice the price, and having had good experience with Yamaha over 40 plus years, I gave it a try. Glad I did. Very sturdy design and construction, easy to assemble and adjust, stable on a very uneven floor. Perfectly responsive to subtle or tromping play. And the extra trigger 'thru' port came in handy for me as well. Two big toes up.

KP65 IS KING!

By BURT MUSSON

Comments about Yamaha KP65 Electronic Kick Tower for DTXtreme IIS Kits:

I bought this kick pad to accomodate my Yamaha DD65.The stock pedals that come with this product lack performance. I walked into Guitar Center and told them what I wanted. They ordered it and shipped to my front door with no hassle, exactly on time.I plugged it in and was amazed by how real the play feel was.It is a durable and sturdy unit and doesn't slide all over.It has an extra trigger jack and level sensitivity adjustment. Thanks Guitar Center for the great service!

Great Value

By George

from N. Tonawanda, NY

Comments about Yamaha KP65 Electronic Kick Tower for DTXtreme IIS Kits:

I picked up my first electronic drum kit a few months ago (to maintain a happy home life!) and the supplied kick pad started malfunctioning within a couple of weeks. I purchased this pad on a recommendation from a friend and am totally satisfied with the performance and feel. I tend to get a little "heavy footed" with my DW pedals and this unit has responded well for me and more importantly has held up to my abuse. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants a quality product at a reasonable price.

good for the price

Comments about Yamaha KP65 Electronic Kick Tower for DTXtreme IIS Kits:

I got this to use with my Roland Handsonic 10. It works well, especially when you consider the price. Two caveats: first, it does not have the feel of the nice Roland electric sets; and second: I have had to turn the level up all the way to get an adequate signal. Apart from that, it works great, I'm loving it and it seems more durable than I expected.

Fair for the price

By Jason Carter

from Charlotte, NC

Comments about Yamaha KP65 Electronic Kick Tower for DTXtreme IIS Kits:

Generally speaking, this is a pretty good bass drum. The price is excellent; I initially thought it would be double the price, considering other electronic hardware is usually very expensive. The response of the KP-65 is very reliable. I've never had a problem concerning "no response" or "cross-talk." After roughly four years, my original drum wore out and I began to have problems with the response, especially when I attempted to hit the bass along with a cymbal concluding a drum fill - this is not a big deal considering the drum wasn't a problem for four years. I play pretty hard sometimes so I have no problem with my drums experiencing wear and tear. The only issue I have with this drum concerns double-bass play. The drum tends to rock back and forth when you apply double bass. Occasionaly it will rock so bad it becomes difficult to play double bass. Eventually the pedal will detatch from the bass, unless you use a wrench to tighten the drum to the pedal. Double bass will work, but it is difficult to find that perfect balance to where the pedals don't slide inadvertently and the bass drum doesn't rock and move. If you can deal with a little frustration concerning double bass play, the drum is definetly worth the money.

Seems a good value

By Rob Vernon

from Placerville, Ca.

Comments about Yamaha KP65 Electronic Kick Tower for DTXtreme IIS Kits:

I've had my Roland TD7 kit for 15 years. The "doorstop" kick trigger had given me some trouble over the last 5 years and more reciently started missing hits. Figured it's time to replace it, but wasn't too keen on the Roland. Tried to order a Hart Dynamics doorstop, but was backordered and I needed something for a gig. Based on customer reviews, I took a chance on the Yamaha. I was surprised by the apparent quality of the unit, it IS beefy and solid. I've only used it at a couple practices and one gig, but it plays well.Natural feel. Having a sensitivity knob on the unit is handy for quick adjustments instead of having to go into the Roland menu. The only minor drawback is how large this thing is, and it's only an issue if I want to use my drum riser. With the DW peddle attached to the Yamaha, it's about 18in long! It BARELY fits on my riser. But otherwise, that's a non-issue. If this unit plays as well as it does now 5-10 years from now, this is an outstanding value, if size is not an issue for you. Half the price of replacing the Roland, and costs less than the Hart.

I've only had for about 3 weeks but plugged right in and sounds great. My Alesis base died and I re-soldered the connection about 10 times then gave up and bought this one. Seems more sturdy and fits and works well with double base pedal

Works great, very responsive, and the carpet spikes keep it planted even with a size 12 foot stomping on the pedal.

Added second tower to eDrum kit

Comments about Yamaha KP65 Electronic Kick Tower for DTXtreme IIS Kits:

I went off grid and added a second tower to my eDrum kit to better replicate my live drum set up. Playing a double pedal on a single pad is doable, but it is not the same experience. My electronic kit is incredibly similar to my live drum kit and practicing has never been this much fun!

        Yamaha KP65

        By SABINO LAGATTOLLA _

        from Hudson, MA

Comments about Yamaha KP65 Electronic Kick Tower for DTXtreme IIS Kits:

I have one use for this, and it's connected to an Alesis SamplePad. It's used primarily for accenting different songs with an electronic clap, or tambourine, or other accent. I don't use it for double bass hits, or any other regular drumming. For what I use it for, I hit the jackpot. VERY affordable, and VERY reliable. The pass through feature may come in handy some day, but I don't have a need for it at this point. Great product.
