Excellent Translation

By Justin Hedquist

Comments about Yamaha HS50M 5" Powered Studio Monitor - Each:

These are my first set of monitors and they are incredible. I really wanted something at a good price that could serve as a magnifying glass of sound. These are magnifying glasses for sound! My mixes translate really well now to any sound system, even the bass. People complain about these speakers not having enough low end power, that may be true but the music I mix is not bass heavy. In fact, it's along the lines of metal/hardcore music I guess you can say. These speakers are perfect for that, no need to go out and buy the subwoofer. These monitors are sharp in the mids and highs, if I dont turn the high EQ down on the back -2 db then I get a headache from mixing. They're that good. These are well worth the price, especially with guitar center's 2 year warranty! (get the warranty)

Viable little guy's

By Robert Montalvo

Comments about Yamaha HS50M 5" Powered Studio Monitor - Each:

Recently i had my original monitors stolen so i was in the market for something affordable. I was really apprehensive about purchasing through guitar center, as i was an X employee and knew about the mark ups. Fortunately the HS50M's dropped down to 149.99 which is pretty low to cost. Besides the fact that they are small in stature these speakers will not disappoint. The mids are great, the highs are crisp, and the lows are just right. Not overly colored like the rokit line. If you don't have a ear for the low ends a 8 inch powered sub will help. The size is nice if you do not have a ton of desk space. Just be sure to purchase a pair of AURALEX pads to keep any unwanted desk rattles out of your workspace. In all if you are an avid audiophile or just starting out with recording these are great little monitor's at a great price.

THIS IS LOVE!!!

Comments about Yamaha HS50M 5" Powered Studio Monitor - Each:

These monitors are AEWSOME!!!!! Well worth your money. I had krks and mackies and i hated them. Once i bought the yamahas i noticed a major difference in all my mixes. everything is well balanced, no instruments over powering or unbalanced. My mixes dont come ut too trebly or bassy when i play the mix through stereos. My mixes sound the exact same way on the stereo as they sounded on the monitors. will recomend these to anyone who is on a tight budget and wants a good quality pair of studio monitors. My only issue with these is that the tweeter has a ghostly his to it thats a little louder than other studio monitors' hises(just about all studio monitors his ) but it does not interfear with your mix THANK YOU YAMAHA!!!

Great Great Great

Comments about Yamaha HS50M 5" Powered Studio Monitor - Each:

I love these monitors for every project. I mix at really low levels and I can hear every detail. If you want to hear that loud muddy noise in the backgorund of a vocal you can find it really easy with these montiors, or if you just want to sit back and make sure your mix is ready to be sent for mastering, these monitors will work great for that. I give these monitors 10 stars for price and preformance!!!!

So far I am non-stop amazed..

Comments about Yamaha HS50M 5" Powered Studio Monitor - Each:

I have had these monitors for just a day now, and I just can't stop listening to them. First thing I did when I went back to my old music is start fixing things because these speakers are so honest and transparent that I can hear every detail. You don't even have to be a great sound engineer to be able to make your music sound better with these. Another thing I've noticed is somehow now I can tell if other people's music is well produced or not. I listen to some folk music that you can tell is poorly recorded, and then listen to something like Radiohead (especially their electronic songs) and you can just tell the difference in production quality. These monitors definitely make you more discerning from the moment you start using em. A lot of people whine about the bass not being as strong, but as someone here said, the speakers on the market tend to over-do the bass in order to sell the speakers (because of course it will sound nicer if it's colored) but these speakers are just plain honest. In fact, the first thing I appreciated about these is the bass! The bass sounds so defined and clean! It's not muffled at all. About buying the sub, I think it's a great investment (though very expensive) but unless your music is all about sub-bass like some dub-step or rap beats this has got all the bass you'll need. Buying the sub will let you define and really compose the sub part of the music, but you can still do it without. I couldn't be happier with these, if these broke I'd buy em again in a heart-beat. 5/5 for sure! :D (BTW, they sound amazing as amplifiers too! Very loud and defined. Great for amplifying vocals!)

Great monitors for a home studio with small budget.

By J Harrison

from BIRMINGHAM,AL

Comments about Yamaha HS50M 5" Powered Studio Monitor - Each:

if you have your priorities straight you know that good monitors are the first thing to be concerned with in your setup. Without that you have no idea what's going on in a mix. Now I'm not an expert or anything, I was using a pair of 5" JBL home stereo speakers before these, but I've had these for to two years now and had no problems out of them and they look and sound great for the money. When I got a little cash to buy monitors I A/Bed several budget versions at the store. (Nice listening room btw.) Of all the ones in my price range of $$$ the YAMAHA were the only ones that seemed to give a real response. All the others sounded like they had a "bass boost" feature. That's how they get you I guess. All the others try to milk more low end out of a tiny sub to "wow" you and end up giving you an inaccurate response. That's also the only bad part about these monitors. There's just no low end. I suggest if you have to have monitors now getting these and saving more and getting the sub woofer or if you can wait keep saving for the HS80 and the sub.

Honest

Comments about Yamaha HS50M 5" Powered Studio Monitor - Each:

Great monitors. I tried out several at the store(certainly not ideal conditions), and these stood out the most in my price range. I was going to get the KRK Rockit 5s, but they sounded like I would want my home stereo to sound. The Yamahas were so much clearer, but at a price. I could have gotten away just using these alone, but I ended up getting the matching HS10W as well. Easy integration, and it really lest me hear what`s going on in the bottom. Mixes sound good on everything, and compared to my old speaker setup, this is fast and easy mixing.

Excellent Sound

By CarlH

from Texas

Comments about Yamaha HS50M 5" Powered Studio Monitor - Each:

The speakers sound great. I am just setting up my first in-home recording studio, so I cannot vouch for how they are for mixing, etc. At first I thought they lacked some bass, but I now realize that most speakers overstate the bass and that is what people are just used to hearing. If you are recording music that needs a lot of bass or that will be played through subwoofers (e.g.,Rap), then you may be better off getting the subwoofer too. I am very happy with them.

hs50m

Comments about Yamaha HS50M 5" Powered Studio Monitor - Each:

I previously had KRK RP5's that I loved to death. I had to get something that was more accurate. My rp5 did not do it for me. So i got the hs50m and let me say my mixes are coming out good. with the rp5 had to do over 10 revision or more before i got that sound..Btw with the 2db boost in the back you will get that ns10 sound mids right in your face. One more thing you need a sub...

I'm Speechless

By Karl

from Florida

Comments about Yamaha HS50M 5" Powered Studio Monitor - Each:

I was looking for some nice and inexpensive speakers, I was in the middle of looking at the Mackie speakers when I saw these on sale and said "They probably aren't great but they're so affordable" I got home, plugged these bad boys in (btw, as an aside, they look spectacular visually) and boy was I blown away. The highs are nice and the mids and lows sound fantastic, I was blown away completely, I had made a blind purchase with no research and I picked the jackpot. I would HIGHLY recommend getting a pair of these especially because they are so affordable, I'd price quality like this around 300.00 per speaker. I could go on and on but seriously consider these and check them out!
