Only four stars because the jury is still out on the quality. I went in to buy a guitar for recording and small gigs. I liked the way this guitar played and bought it. I wanted a boxed item and when I checked it over (am I glad I did!!) there was a huge crack at the bottom/back seam and the back of the guitar had separated from the bottom. No damage at all to the packing material/box - this was strange. I went to see if the floor model had too many scratches and found it had the EXACT SAME DAMAGE!. Too much for coincidence. I am waiting for the factory order to come in - just a heads-up for anyone looking at this. I will report back with the wrap up.

This was my second guitar. I purchased this to practice around the house. I am still practicing and am not a sure skilled guitarist. however, 3 days after getting it and learning a few chords #3 string broke and #6 sting just fell out of the guitar. The strings on this one are just held in by a plastic Piece. This might be why i play the guitar and tune it at night, and then the next morning its wildly out of tune. How does it get that out of tune just sitting on the guitar stand? I suggest you get something else.

Comments about Yamaha FX335C Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I needed an affordable active acoustic-electric to play small venues since my fender started acting up. I went to Guitar Center and looked around for a while before I came across this Yamaha fx335c. I wasn't to sure about the Yamaha brand but it looked so nice. I took it to the back plugged it in and was amazed with the sound and feel of this guitar. After purchasing I took it home and jammed unplugged almost all night. From what I have seen so far it is a great guitar. Time will tell how well it is built though, so we'll see.

I bought this guitar after the squire(fender) guitar I was using broke. I wanted something that was durable and could practice with. I love the size and feel of this guitar. The stock strings are okay, but I plan to change it with elixir strings. The guitar sounds great plugged into a good quality amp. Great guitar for somebody who is ready to take the next step from novice to intermediate.

Comments about Yamaha FX335C Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

First of all, I am a professional musician, I play Bass, Piano, and Guitar. I bought this guitar for my son, but he wanted an electric so I kept it for myself. I did need to do some set up work on the neck of this guitar, but I wouldn't try this if you are a novice. However, Guitar Center, or most guitar shops, will do a great set up for you if your guitar needs it. Easily worth the money. Then, I changed the strings to a higher quality set. I use Martin strings, but to each his own.
After the set up, this guitar plays like a dream. It plays like an electric guitar now. When you change the strings, put them on, tune them up, then play a little, then tune them again. Keep doing this until the strings stay in tune. Set it aside for awhile, then play the guitar, then tune them again. This will get a good stretch on the strings, and they will stay in tune. Now when you pick up the guitar to play, tune them, and they will stay in tune. (Just an FYI, guitars will go out of tune due to weather, humidity, hot, cold, this is not a bad guitar. Guitars are made of wood, wood expands and contracts.)
If you need a tuner, go to Google Play and get Pro Guitar Tuner. The best free, basic tuner around, and for .99 cents, you can change tunings, and there is a ton of other instruments you can tune with it.
This is a solid guitar, quality craftsmanship, and Yamaha is a great brand. Worth the money for this one.

Hey guys, the Guitar came in excellent shape and playability right out of the box. The playing is true and the sound and quality are 'spot on'. My main axe is an Epi Emperor and I needed an acoustic for tunes that sound better with it, i.e. sambas, folk, etc. It's really a 'fun' bax to play.
