I use this to play and practice, but once a month I get together with a few friends and jam together. It's so easy to play and I plug it right into the amp I use to use with a strat. Technically it's a 3/4 size (which basically means that the fret board is 1/2 inch shorter and the body is slightly (barely noticeably) smaller. In my small collection of guitars; acoustic, electric, acoustic bass, and electric bass, I never owned an electric acoustic before. This is a perfect, all round guitar at the right price.

tHE GUITAR SOUNDS GREAT THE STRINGS ARE TOO HIGH ON THE NECK AND THE SADDLE AT THE BRIDGE IS TOO TALL. THERE IS NO BUTTON ON THE FRONT FOR FITTING A STRAP. I JUST NEVER DID LIKE HAVING TO FIT MY STRAP TO THE HEADSTOCK. IT LOOKS LIKE AN OLD BLUEGRASS PICKER. I WILL TAKE MINE BACK AND PICK OUT ANOTHER.

Sounds great!

Comments about Yamaha FSX700SC Solid Top Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I think the Yamaha FSX700SC compares favorably with some guitars that cost twice as much. Although it is a small body guitar it has a large sound. It is super easy to play. The action and intonation was perfect right out of the box and there was no reason to have a luthier do a proper set-up like you have to do with most new guitars. This is the second Yamaha I have owned. I am very impressed with the quality of the Yamaha guitars.

Great purchase

Comments about Yamaha FSX700SC Solid Top Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

It you want a reliable investment, here it is. Sound. Great. A member of our band has a $1,700 Martin and everyone agrees that it sounds as warm and looks fantastic. They did it right with this one! Play 5 or 6 guitars and you will keep coming back to this one. For the sound, price, reliability and ease of playability....go for it!!!

Possibly The Best Value On The Market

By Paul Thacker

from Jacksonville, FL

Comments about Yamaha FSX700SC Solid Top Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've never been a big Yamaha fan, but simply put, this guitar is nice! I've been looking for a new guitar for the last 6 months. I was searching in the $500 +/- range, and was leaning toward a Seagull Entourage when I found this at Guitar Center for $299. I couldn't believe that Yamaha could offer a solid top guitar of this quality at that price. The fit and finish are beautiful (I bought the sunburst), and the sound is just what I was looking for. Bass and volume are better than you would expect for the small body size, but more importantly, the sound is perfectly balanced throughout. Plugged in, the guitar sounds just like it should, like it's NOT plugged in. The sound through my amp is clear and natural. The action is perfect, and the slightly smaller size makes the instrument comfortable and fun to play. I haven't found another guitar that plays or sounds this good under $500, or a guitar that looks this good at many times the price.

Nice Price for the sound

Comments about Yamaha FSX700SC Solid Top Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

So I originally bought a Yamaha FX370SC, but as a NooB I didn't have the knowledge or awareness of solid tops vs. lament and so on. Within my thirty day window I went back and played all levels of guitars from 200 mark to the 1800 mark in cost. I have a lot of experience with sound and to me the FSX700SC could hold its own with all the guitars I played, all brands big and small. This guitar has a nice warm sound and resonates well without the electronics. Feels great in play and I am of the opinion that it is not that much small than the dreadnot style and for me was just a little more comfortable. For the price I feel like I got a much better guitar for the cost. I recommend no matter what you are buying to actually go into the store and try as many guitars as you can because I found differences in sound, feel, and actual color/looks in all the guitars including same model/make comparisons. This guitar though is pretty nice and friends that I have shown it to and allowed to play it thought it cost much more and where surprised at the price for the quality. Awesome guitar.

Comments about Yamaha FSX700SC Solid Top Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have gone through a lot of guitars and this guitar is the one I keep coming back to. Here's why:
    1) Quality components and construction. The nut and bridge are not bone, but other than that common shortcut, the other things are there. Tuning machines are fabulous for a guitar in this range. Electronics are adequate. Solid top has a beautiful rich sound and durability and assembly are solid. I've had mine for three years now and it's holding up great.
    2) Nice out of the box setup. I've changed strings many times and haven't had to tweak anything, not even the truss rod. Frets were smooth and nice when I bought it.
    3) Great feel. The 25" scale is only a minor departure from the more common 25.5" but it makes a difference. The guitar feels great. The neck feels great.
    4) The sound is terrific. It's got good lows, twangy highs and sounds really great. Obviously this has a lot to do with your strings and I've tried them all. I've been moving toward thinner strings of late, but 11s are as low as I like to go on this guy. Sounds really good with 12s.
    5) Electronics are good and the onboard tuner is one of my favorite onboard tuners. You don't get a lot of control from the preamp, but you get volume, treble and bass. It does sound very authentic plugged in. Unplugged, you won't know it's not a dreadnought.
    6) As a minor quibble, I noted there's no strap button at the neck. It's a minor quibble. I installed one, but I picked the wrong spot and get some neck tilt, but that's on me.

What a nice guitar, Plays better than a Taylor?! Wow Yamaha!

Comments about Yamaha FSX700SC Solid Top Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this as a used item, and wow what a nice instrument! Looks great, apart from maybe two or three VERY minor blemishes on my used item, but what a beautiful piece. I bought the sand-burst. Very well put together and very quality controlled item. The finish is very beautiful. The cutaway is a must for me so that is a very desirable feature since I sometimes need the lower frets with what I play. Quality and Reliability Like I said, very quality controlled and seems tailored to the avid guitar player. I know it will stand the test of time just by looking at it, and a close inspection shows true. Very well built. Enough about looks and what not, how does it play? Well since I bought it used and it would be shipped, I knew I would have to adjust it and do a basic setup, For this model, just a truss rod tweak, but once dialed in it is good enough to play. I had to tune it and go, and wow. Just like others said on it here, it is a rich tone. The electronics seem nice and work well in my tube amp. I thought I would be losing tone not having the full dreadnought size, but somehow Yamaha pulled it off. I am guessing the solid top and depth allowed for proper acoustic resonance, but I didn't expect it to have that bodied tone. I played a couple of different ones in the store, but didn't get a chance to try this one. I am glad I watched enough videos and did enough research before buying. I let my buddy play it after I finished the setup (Going to tweak when I get some new elixer strings) and he said he couldn't believe how well it played. Like me he has played Martin's, Taylor's, Fender's, and an array of acoustic guitars. He even stated it played better than some of the Taylor's that he's tried. Bottom Line, the competition is very slim for the quality you get considering the price. This is a great guitar for the beginner to the seasoned player alike. Don't take my word for it, go see for yourself, or just do yourself a favor and buy it.

Comments about Yamaha FSX700SC Solid Top Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am an intermediate player and just wanted a nice acoustic/elec. to play with and practice on. This Yamaha is perfect for me. Even though I'm 6'2 and 220 lbs, I really liked the fit and comfort of this guitar. Got it in the sandburst finish. Plays great and the fit and finish are top notch. I bought it over the way more expensive ones even though price was not a factor.

    In Love

    By Krista Spencer

    from Holyoke, MA

Comments about Yamaha FSX700SC Solid Top Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought the Yamaha FSX700SC about 2 months ago. I was looking for an electric acoustic that I could grow into as a beginner. I was looking specifically for a smaller guitar in the $200 - $300 range and stumbled across this one. I was pleasantly surprised with the full sound of this guitar. Every friend that I have that has played it has loved it, and it sounds amazing plugged in. I practice as much as I can because of how in love I am with this guitar. I also have a friend, who is a more experienced player, who is considering purchasing this guitar or another in this same series because of it's quality for the price. The action on this guitar is slightly high, but something that hasn't seemed to bother me or anyone else who has spent time playing it. Overall, I got really lucky with this purchase, but am so pleased. I would recommend this guitar to anyone, whether a beginner or more experienced player.
