Specially Developed Scalloped Bracing
Yamaha's modern FG has louder and stronger sound in the low- to mid-ranges, thanks to cutting-edge acoustic analysis technology developed by the Yamaha R&D Division. Yamaha’s engineers have achieved this sound by utilizing analysis and simulation to arrive at the best bracing design without depending on tradition or guesswork. This analysis led to the development of the new scalloped bracing pattern, an ideal acoustic structure that maintains the durability of the top board while bringing out the most sound the Yamaha FG has to offer.

Comments about FG830 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I use this guitar to play the classics like " Will you still love me tomorrow". It's a beautiful guitar ( I got the sunrise model) and is a solid investment at the price. I think this is great rosewood at a bargain price. But Yamaha is my favorite inexpensive guitar.

Comments about Yamaha FG830 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I got Yamaha's FG700s first, then the FG800. Both are amazing guitars, The 800 replaced the 700s, which was the world's bestselling acoustic. The 800 line, including the 830, are the same guitar as the 700 line was, except with scalloped bracing for more bass. This works out especially well with the 830, with it's laminated rosewood back and sides. When I first strummed it, it was like strumming a Martin. The sustain lasted forever. I notice one reviewer said they got one of these in 2010. They weren't out until 2016. They probably meant the FG730s, with the unscalloped bracing. Those are great, these are better. You will not find a guitar as good as the 800 or the 830 at their prices. They are amazing guitars. I have about 25 guitars, and I know.

Comments about Yamaha FG830 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar sounds so sweet and feels so good I wonder why it took me so long to decide. Over the past few months I bought two lower-end Martins, thinking, "It's a Martin; it's gotta be good." Each time, I ended up returning it to Guitar Center, because it didn't measure up to the Yamaha FG180 I've owned since the early '70s.

I finally decided to order the FG830 online. The one they had in my semi-local GC was the natural finish and had been on the floor for months. I decided to try a different finish, so I ordered the autumn burst online. I finally have a guitar I like better than my 45-year-old FG180. And it's roughly half the price of the Martins I brought home.

I will warn people tempted to try the autumn burst finish that it's a real fiery, vivid look. makes you want to grab your shades -- or maybe a fire hose. But it's NOT BORING, and that's what I wanted.

There's only one thing I would change about this guitar. I'd like to see Yamaha add a second strap button at the heel of the neck. Fortunately, I have a fantastic local luthier who put one on for $5.

I'm sure people who can afford the $1,500 or $2,000 Martins could explain to me why their guitar is worth it, but I'll bet a ton of people who have the $600 to $1,000 Martins would end up choosing the FG830 in a blind listening test.

I suppose sometime I'm going to try another brand again, but for right now, I'm comfortable knowing that the two Yamahas I have are just the best thing you can get for the money.

Comments about Yamaha FG830 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

How a guitar can sound this good and play this well for it's price is mind boggling. I played every guitar I could get my hands on for weeks. Many at 3 to 4 times the price. When I picked this one up it just felt like I had run into an old friend. Intonation is as good as it gets, up and down the neck. It makes playing and writing an absolute joy. A big thanks to Yamaha for making an instrument that plays and sounds better than a lot of guitars that I could never afford.

Comments about Yamaha FG830 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I first purchased this guitar back in 2010. Found it to be as good sounding as the 4-$600.00 other well known brands and this one beat them all in tone, craftsmanship and overall value. Of coarse I let it go. But I will be replacing it with this model. I feel that this is the best deal out their in this price range.

Comments about Yamaha FG830 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

If you have 300 dollars to spend on a guitar this is it. If you have 500 dollars this is it. If you have 700 this is still it. I have no idea how Yamaha makes a guitar this good at this price. I did a lot of shopping and played a lot of guitars. I could have saved myself a lot of time by trying this first. As you can see I have an old friend that shares the same family tree. This guitar has been with me for 6 months now and may be the last acoustic guitar I own. The old one has over a 30 year history with me. If it could talk......what am I saying! It can do better than that. It can sing and it tells my life story

I've wanted to learn how to play the guitar for decades and with retirement around the corner I thought it was finally time.
I purchased this as my first and I love it. The finish on the guitar is spotless. It arrived within a week of ordering and was well packaged.
