Yamaha FG335s/I bought the guitar at Guitar Center and played it there first. I also had my eyes on an epiphone and another yamaha. I played all of them 2 or 3 times, and had to pick this one. I have played for 25 years, and just wanted a good representation of a yamaha, kinda like the one I first got in 1980. Anyway I like it of the 3 and have no regrets. My philosophy on guitars is that the more time on guitar the better the player, and the more fun for the player. Also I can't see spending $4000 or so dollars on a Gibson, when I can have just has much satisfaction on a range of guitar somewhere between $300 and $800 dollars. I played the Gibson there. They wanted $2000, but it would not have been deffinitely better than this one. I also own a martin, a cort, and many others all under $1000, and have lots of fun. Each guitar in unique to me. To make a long story short, I like this guitar and reccomend it. This guitar has deep rich lower tones that I could not ignore, and the appearance is amazing, plus the feel of the guitar overall. These guitars are built in a few days. many of them have poor (or awful)neck sets, and the bridges are so low there is nothing a luthier can do with them. So my advice is to pick one that either you know (or you know someone who knows guitars who knows) has a decent neck set, and has enough height on the bridge for the action adjustment that will very likely be needed at some point.

Yamaha FG735S INCREDIBLE FOR THE PRICE!

By Dan

from Inland Empire, CA

Comments about Yamaha FG735S Folk Acoustic Guitar:

I have played acoustics all my life and have years of experience writing, performing and recording music. My guitars include a vintage '76 Guild D55, a '96 Martin D28, an Ovation Al DiMeola Custom Legend, a National Resophonic M-2, a Takamine Lawsuit 12 string from the 70's, an Epiphone Riviera, and a Fender American Stratocaster-- This Yamaha stands up well to all of them. I took a novice guitar playing friend to Guitar Center to buy one as upgrade. When he took his home, I was jealous because of the looks, sound and playability of this guitar. In spite of the fact I didn't need a guitar, I went and bought one anyway. I immediately changed the strings to Elixir Custom Lights and began to play. I couldn't put down my Yamaha FG735S! It has a wonderfully clear and sweet sound, with a great balance between the lows, mids and high end. It is very comparable to my Martin D28 and in some ways, sounds better! It has an amazing bass depth and sustain, which I like as a solo singer songwriter. It has a sensitive, solid sound when I finger pick my ballads. It has a bright and powerful ring when I play my blues songs, such as Texas Flood and Sad, Sad Day. This guitar is also breathtakingly beautiful with the richly colored Cherry Sunburst and the abalone rosette around the sound hole. The tuners seem to be holding well, with my only issues being brand new strings and wintery weather this week. The more I have played it, 4 or 5 hours in two days, the better the pitch control seems to become. If you are looking for a guitar that you can proudly get on stage with and do your coffee house gigs or lead worship with pride, this guitar will not let you down. The fact that I paid this much for it is absolutely ridiculous! With an American Brand Name on the headstock, it would go for $1100 minimum. I give it my strongest recommendation for quality at a great price.

Comments about Yamaha FG735S Folk Acoustic Guitar:

I didn't want to write a review prematurely. I've owned this guitar for 2 years now and I absolutely love it. It's beautiful to look at and it's even better to play it. I've allowed several and more experienced guitar players in my family play it and they're looking to purchase it as well. Excellent product.

When you least expect it!

By Mike Kenworthy

from Seattle Wa.

Comments about Yamaha FG735S Folk Acoustic Guitar:

Went to Guitar Center to buy a case for my Washburn 12 string and had no intention of buying another guitar but went into the acoustic room just to noodle around a bit. After playing several I decided to buy a new 6 string. I played everything they had up to $600 and couldn't find one with a decent tone. As I was leaving I spotted my FG735S hanging way up top in the corner. I had the salesman get it down and hit one chord on it. That was it. The sound was amazing! And for only $350.00! I left with TWO new cases that day and my new Yamaha was in one of them! Looks and sounds WAY better than many more expensive guitars.

Great Value!

By Scott

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Yamaha FG735S Folk Acoustic Guitar:

This is my second acoustic. My first was a Martin D-35 which I love and is absolutely my baby. I bought the Yamaha with the intention of it being a "beater" for random jams around the house when i don't feel like getting my Martin out of the case. However, I have found the Yamaha to be much more than a "beater" guitar. For the relatively low price you get a rosewood back and sides, and solid sitka spruce top... a combination which I have always found to produce loud rich tone. And the Yamaha is no exception. The tone is very loud and clear. In my opinion the only improvement would be a little more bass to balance out the mostly treble tone. The construction also seems to be sturdy. It feels like it's built to last, and there are no sharp edges on the frets or any other noticeable issues. My only qualm would be that the neck is three piece (headstock, neck, and butt that adjoins to the guitar). However as long as this construction holds up, I'm happy. Finally, the finish looks awesome. I've always wanted a Cherry Burst guitar, and this one looks great. Overall, I would recommend this guitar to anyone. For the price you simply can't do better. Looks great, sounds better, and feels sturdy enough to last... two thumbs up!
