Surprisingly GREAT sound!

By MartinBoy-Dreadnought

from Fremont, CA

Comments about Yamaha FG720S 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I've been playing for only a little over a year now, but I've had the great pleasure in playing several different brands of guitars - Fender, Martin, and Palmer to name a few. For a while, I thought no brand was capable of even coming close to the "perfect" sound of a Martin guitar. With a limited budget, I really wanted a decent, (12)steel-stringed accoustic guitar and the Yamaha FG720S 12-string impressed me. With a glossy finish on the body (natural on the neck,) a REAL solid spruce top, chrome tuners, and a low action out-of-the-box, it raises your eyebrows. :) If you don't like the action, this guitar comes with an Allen wrench to adjust the truss rod. I wasn't familiar with "Nato" wood, but I can assure you that this guitar projects very well. It provides excellent, deep bass and it RINGS! This guitar sounds beautiful and it's not as hard as I thought it would be to fingerpick with it. (I'm used to playing 6-strings.) For the hardware you get at this price, this is the best deal I've seen, especially for a 12-string!

Great guitar for sound and quality

By BostonGuitar

from Boston, MA

Comments about Yamaha FG720S 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I just sold my 6 string, and went with my wife to look at some guitar. We both agreed that we were only going to look and not buy anything. I wanted to check out the 12 strings. I played everything from the $250-$4,000. The Bust sounding guitar was by far the yamaha. It was loud and clean. Forget about the price for second, and it seems like a very exspensive guitar... then look at the price and see that it is well below your budget! My wife said to BUY IT!!!... and she never would ever do that!

Great value!

By Jeff C

from Temecula, CA

Comments about Yamaha FG720S 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

For the price, this is a great guitar. I have an older ovation 6 string and wanted to get an inexpensive 12 string to dink around on a few hours a week. This Yamaha guitar plays very well and sounds good. It has a very "bright" tone more so than a "deep" tone, but it is not overly "twangy". The action is great making it very easy to chord and strum. I have had my guitar for about 2 months and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

A Dream Come True

By Vachine

from Santa Monica, CA

Comments about Yamaha FG720S 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

A Martin nylon-string plunker for forty years, with bad experiences attempting to play a steel 12-string with high action and narrow nut, the Yamaha FG720S was a vastly pleasant surprise on ease of playing and roomy finger space. Granted that learning to pick and finger twelve strings instead of six was a challenging learning curve, but the beauty of the loud clear sound compensated for the extra effort. All that and the price was so low it's hard to believe that such a value is possible.

Very Versatile, Rich Sound

By Kenbear

from Sterling Heights, MI

Comments about Yamaha FG720S 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I upgraded to this guitar from a Yamaha 410-12 string. It's got a deep, rich sound, especially with D'Addarios. I started off with it tuned a half-step down, and it proved to be very versatile in both strumming and picking (both fingerpicking and flatpicking). Then I recently had the truss rod tweaked and tuned up to standard pitch for more volume...WOW! I haven't had this much fun playing a guitar (either 6 or 12 string) in a long time.

Comments about Yamaha FG720S 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I've never had such an amazing sound come out of a guitar. If you want a beautiful sounding and looking guitar get this. don't think about it. if you have any money just get it. I promise you won't be disappointed. the neck is seriously smooth and fast. and I can't stress to you how beautiful the sounds from this guitar are with the right strings.

Great Guitar

By Nancy

from Tucson, AZ

Comments about Yamaha FG720S 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I have small hands so I thought I would never find a 12 string I liked. I went into guitar center and strummed around on this one for fun and ended up buying it. It is very comfortable to play, sounds great, stays in tune, high quality tuners (that's important to me as a music teacher). I really like the volume for larger groups of people. For the price, I give it 5 stars.

Comments about Yamaha FG720S 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I just want to say i have been playing yamaha acoustics for many years. Have always wanted a twelve string. Have played fenders ,ovations, richenbachers, and yamahas. This guitar is quality built. Is easy to play stays in tune, and the sound is awesome. Never bought a guitar unless i have played it first. Took a chance buying online, and was surprised. Whoever made this guitar did a fine job, it will ring out the sounds that are in my heart and soul for many years.Thank you yamaha for an affordable twelve string.

Very nice

By DenisVolga

from Somewhere over the Rainbow

Comments about Yamaha FG720S 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

Always wanted to have a 12string guitar to play some "Travis" (FranHealy) stuff, some Russian stuff (AlexandrRozenbaum) and, of course, how can we miss it, "Wish you were here". Then, despite of money issue, I went of the hook, made a decision right on the spot and bought this Yamaha FG720S-12. There are many very nice Y. guitars that are not expensive (comparatively) but sounding very good and they are very durable. Roughly saying the sound is between Taylor and Alvarez). Personally, I like the well-rounded neck, just very comfy. Yes, there are other good 12string models like Seagull (don't like much personally the feeling and looks of their 6 strings, but the sound is nice, deep and juicy),Epiphone, Fender,...Know nothing about Ibanez somehow. But knowing Yamaha reputation and having Yamaha FGX720SCA at home (amongst others...a small nice 'company'), I know that this guitar will keep in tune, the natural brightness of Yamaha just fits the 12 string version, it is comfortable, it looks just beautiful and, yes, the price is good enough for the thing. Very often one doesn't have to go too far (pricewise)to make a nice music and Yamaha gives us a good choice . When I play this one, I feel it with my guts and heart, physically. That's a good sign. After all - it's how and what you play. And this model would be good, i guess, for anyone, ..unless one is picky and interested more in brand or price than in music itself.
