It's a good buy

By Jeff East

Comments about Yamaha F Series FX325 Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar:

I've been a Yamaha Acoustic fan for awhile. Guitars like this, is the reason why. I'm not big on blowing excessive amounts of money on gear. I like a good value, not cheap guitars. I stopped by GC on Central Express Way in Dallas night before last to pick up a couple of sets of strings, and of course took the cursory walk through the store. I had no intention of buying anything, other than the strings. There was one of these marked at $129, so I picked it up, strummed a little and bought it. This is a great value level guitar, no surprise to me it's a Yamaha. I've loved the A-series for years, and owned two. For a $189 this is a very playable little guitar. Good action, tone and stays in tune. Balance isn't bad and over all feels pretty good. It'll play a coffee shop no problem and I don't have to worry about it getting knocked off of the stand when on a break. Great entry level to light gig guitar. This is definitely a guitar to start a beginning player on, that will take them from their first chords to their first acoustic gig. You aren't wasting money on a guitar that will make learning harder. A light setup and fret leveling might be helpful, but is all you'll need to do to insure they don't stop playing due to frustration. Someone had done this on the used one I bought. Summary, if your in the market for a starter, this is a great guitar. If your a player and want something to carry around for parties and impromptu jams, this is something you can enjoy playing. It's a decent guitar and a steal under $200.

It's okay

By Chrisman

Comments about Yamaha F Series FX325 Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar:

the guitar is playable and it's definitely better to have one than not, but in terms of the limited volume of sound it produces and the lack of depth in the quality of the sound it produces it's not really apt for deeper appreciation and expression of sound. however, considering the price, it's not a bad guitar, and it definitely is a valid guitar unlike other guitars that may be toy-like in the similar price range. the sound may be muffled by the cheapness of the parts, but when its quieter its more enjoyable. but i think this is very personal, i tend to really enjoy the quality and the varied depth of sound that guitars produce. as far as the pick up goes, it's not so great. but again it's a cheap guitar, if you are looking for practicing and maybe even small gig/worship sessions, it shouldn't be a problem.
