The Yamaha DTX-PAD: a next-generation electronic drum pad
Yamaha has been a proud and dedicated designer of acoustic drums for many years, and that's why Yamaha knows what it means for drums to feel good and to work just right during performances. In its relentless pursuit of drumming perfection, Yamaha has channeled all of its experience into creating state-of-the-art electronic drum pads. Yamaha sought the help of the world's top drummers, reflecting their detailed sense of perfection to give form to the drummer's ideal. The result of this quest for perfection is the Yamaha DTX-PAD drum pad.

The Yamaha DTX-PAD achieves an exquisite feel that satisfies even the world's top drummers. The surface of the drum pad features a Textured Cellular Silicone Head, made using unique molding technologies developed by Yamaha. It has a different stick response for the snare and toms, which provides a natural feeling when you use the pads in a drum set. The sensitivity of the pad has dramatically increased by employing a floating design. Its durability has been proven through Yamaha's severe testing process and yet achieves a level of quietness during play that is on a different level from other contemporary e-drum pads.

Realistic cymbals and durable kick pads
The DTX900K electronic drum kit employs the vertically mobile RHH135 hi-hat pad. This pad is incredibly quiet, and its pedal has a natural feel. You can control different sounds with the pad and edge areas, and foot splashing is supported. It includes the HS740A hi-hat stand.

There are 2 types of cymbal pads included‚ÄĚthe 15" PCY155 and the 13" PCY135. They both have 3 zones: the pad, edge, and cup. Each zone produces a different sound. Because sticks bounce and vibrate on these cymbal pads in almost the exact same way that they do on real cymbals, you'll get that same feeling that you do playing on an acoustic drum set. Also, you can choke the cymbal pads by grabbing their edges after you hit them.

This electric drum set comes with a KP125W kick pad, which guarantees stable play, even when you're using a double footpedal. A protective sheet that covers the entire drumhead makes each kick pad extremely durable.

Experience the high-quality tone generator and superb operability of the Yamaha DTX900 drum module
In addition to a collection of essential Yamaha acoustic drum sounds, the DTX900 also features a broad spectrum of voices taken from the world-renowned MOTIF-Series synthesizers for a grand total of 1,326 voices. Even on a live stage, these subtle, yet dynamic voices bring forth a compelling presence. The Expanded Articulation System, which creates subtly different samples even when you strike the drum with the same strength, can create more natural snare rolls and re-create the feel of a legato ride cymbal or staccato hi-hat. This module is equipped with rich and powerful DSP effects. This includes global effects, such as reverb and chorus, which can be used commonly throughout the whole system, as well as variation effects that can be used on each drum kit. It is equipped with a chain function that enables you to program drum kits freely, in any order that you desire. Even during a live performance, you can switch to another drum kit easily just by hitting a pad.

The Yamaha drum module also features internal recordings of 87 songs from a wide variety of genres. You can mute the drum part and play along with a song, and you can also record your own performance.

Add original sounds through sampling
The Yamaha DTX900 module is equipped with an Aux In/Sampling In connector. You can connect it to an external sound source or use a microphone and sample your own audio, from instruments to vocals. You can even load original voices from USB flash memory and assign them to different pads.

Customization enables you to create your ideal drum sound
The possibilities are limitless. You can arrange the versatile drum kit as you please to create your own original drum set. You can switch to different snare or cymbal sounds, add a cowbell sound or a woodblock sound, and then you can save your settings. Next time you select the patch, your kit will be just as you left it.

Versatile trigger features
The module is also equipped with a stacking feature, which plays multiple drum voices simultaneously when you hit a single pad, and an alternation feature, which changes the voice each time you hit a single pad. By combining these features, you can perform in ways that would be impossible with an acoustic drum set.

Rich training features for improving your performance skills
The module has a metronome feature that enables you to set precise types of clicks for different types of notes. You can change the locations of the click accents. It is also equipped with a groove check function, which checks the accuracy of your timing and tells you how off-rhythm you are, and a rhythm gate function, in which the drum only produces sound for accurate shots. This allows you to train for practice as if you were playing a game. With the Aux-In connector, you can connect a CD player, portable MP3 player, or other device and practice using any song you like.

Connect to PCs and other devices
The drum module's MIDI and USB connectors allow you to not only play sounds from an external sound source and use the high-quality sound of the Yamaha DTX900 as a sound source, but to also add power to your music creation by using Digital Audio Workstation software to create a MIDI recording of your own performance. In addition, Steinberg Cubase AI 5 is included. You can use it to change parameters such as the tempo, timing, and tone of your recorded MIDI performances. The drum module will also function as a MIDI-controller for VST instruments. With a free download from Yamaha's website, the DTX900 panel switches can even be used to control Cubase AI 5 and other DAWs, allowing for more streamlined music creation.

Drummers use the 6 Individual Out connectors to send the snare, tom, and other drum sounds to your mixer individually. You can record to a multitrack recorder easily without using the complicated miking that you would need to record from an acoustic drum set. Also, you can use the Digital Out (S/PDIF) connector to send digital quality sound from the Yamaha DTX900 to an external device.

10 out of ten if i could!

By Bianca

from LA,CA

Comments about Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set:

WOW! the Yamaha DTX900K is the best electronic kit out there. Although the new pearl kit offers another dimension to the electronic drum world, i would have to say that the Yamaha DTX900K beats em all. I own this and was thinking about buying a cheaper model but the module of this kit is AMAZING! it does all the dirty work for my recording. i don't have to re-tune and re-mic my acoustic drums... i just use this instead. a couple of cables, boom. you're set to record.

Can You Play It?

By TommyTomToms

from Los Angeles,CA

Comments about Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set:

Well, out of all the E-Kits I have played throughout all types and models of brands and structures, and I have to say that the Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set is one magnificent beauty of and instrument... Ive used this set in particular the rebound on the mesh pads are 10/10. The kick trigger does support double-bass pedals and with a goo pair of pedals you can do the unthinkable.the snare pad is a three-zone pad so you do get the your regular snare sound plus the modules different kit sounds plus the rim shot and the cross hit. Plus the cymbals are dual-zone which makes life easier so go ahead and do you think you can play it?

Feel is Real

By Evan Smith

from Boise ID

Comments about Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set:

I am a traditional acoustic drum player and don't much care for the electronic version of a drum kit. But, I had a chance to play the Yamaha and it had amazing feel, as close to an acoustic I personally have played. The sound was great and I liked the cymbal sound as well. You won't be disappointed with this set-up.

Excellent

By EW

Comments about Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set:

Best electric drum set in the market in my opinion. Excellent quality considering sensors, touch, sound, feeling, and placement. Great set considering the Yamaha quality. The realistic feeling of the pads are about as good as it gets for an electric drum set. The price is acceptable for such a set.

One of the best out there!

By James

from Kingston, Ontario

Comments about Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set:

I was recently down at my local music store and they had this kit available to go on and try out. So I did and I really enjoyed playing on this kit. First of all, there are quite a bit of songs, sounds, beats, tempos and sound adjusters on this kit. Another thing is that it has alot of rebound on its pads. Since their is alot of rebound on these toms (not so much on the snare) I found it easy to move around and get fast tom rolls in. Overall this is a very good electronic kit. Check it out!

Yamaha does it again!

By BC

from Orlando, Florida

Comments about Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set:

If you've got the money to jump into the electronic drum market, jump on a set from Yamaha. Yes, they are expensive, but they are well worth the price. They have an incredible feel and kit after kit of great sounds. And, the high hat on this kit is spot on - great sound and feel. I don't use the double bass pedal, but otherwise, totally amazing!

Amazing Kit

By Joel Walehwa

from Tulsa, Ok

Comments about Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set:

This is a great kit. I play this kit at the church I drum at and it is so a lot of fun. It is very versitlie, each individual drum sound can be customized so you can make the kit sound however you want! They also have the added bonus of not making you feel like you are playing a rigid electric kit and more like you are playing a live one.

I was in guitar center the other day walking around the kits checking them all out and im not usually known to play electronic kits but this one blew my mind away. after i played this kit for about 20 minutes i tried out the other kits and nothing compared even though this is a very expensive peace of equipment i would definetly take this one over any other electronic drum set.

DTX 900 - Top E Kit

By James Pottage

from Colorado Springs, Colorado

Comments about Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set:

I read the review that said the new heads still feel like rubber. I can only guess that the reviewer has never played the DTX 900. I own a DTX 900 brain with the new XP120 Snare and one XP100 Tom (both using the new silicon technology). They have an incredible feel ۡ like using real heads on acoustic drums. They are very sensitive and give a great range of sound. The three zone technology on the drums surpasses the VDrums by Roland. I also have 6 other tom pads (TP100s), 4 crash cymbals (PCY 135), One ride (PCY 155), 2 X Kick Pads (KP125 and KP645) and the HiHat (RHH135). (Yes that is right I have 7 Tom Tom pads, 5 Cymbals, Snare and Hi-Hat and Double Bass (2 X Kicks) all connected to the DTX900 module. All pads are three zone accept one crash cymbal because it is connected to the Bass Drum input and the Hi-Hat which is two zone . I connected the two kicks to the same input with the cymbal using a mono splitter for the Kicks and a stereo slitter to add the cymbal) One Tom is used for wood blocks, cow bells etc. Two toms are used for timbale, timpani etc. I have also bought a Yamaha Beech Snare Drum (acoustic) that I have set up left of the hi-hat to use with brushes. The module comes with brush sounds but you lose the feel of using brushes. I use nylon brushes and they work well with the hi-hat and cymbals. They will also trigger the pads as long as you hit them with medium or greater strength . The kit is amazingۡ_ Very realistic cymbal response and sound, including ability to choke the cymbal Ability to do hit rim shots, cross stick and hit the head without changing the configuration Very realistic drum sounds ۡ all the important Yamaha drum sets have been sampled Hit-hat reacts like an acoustic hi-hat (Open and closed ۡ six different sounds) ۡ The Hi-hat pads use open and close using a hi-hat stand. New heads feel like acoustic heads. I have the acoustic snare beside the set and it feels the same as hitting the silicone pads. The kit has more inputs than the high end V-Drums by Roland, uses Yamaha sampling (I like these better than Roland), 3 zones on all but two inputs, and the ability to sample your own sounds. I love this kit.

Best E-Kit out there

By Brandon Crooms

from Lavonia, GA

Comments about Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set:

I had the privilege to play on a DTX950 a while back, i know this isn't the same kit but they're pretty much alike just different setups. All i have to say is way to go Yamaha, this is by far the best line of e-kits on the market in my opinion. I love the pre loaded yamaha kits on the module along with the MOTIF samples! Just insane!

Solid but not perfect.

By Myles

from Winder, GA

Comments about Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set:

Solid and strong, the sound are incredible. most drummer assume they will get the same response as in a acoustic kit. Your sound is only as good as your playing. I played Roland for years the warmth is amazing. Yamaha has really out did themselves. Dynamics are fine for jazz and Church. If your a basher stick with acoustic.....

Great, but not the best

By Matt

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Yamaha DTX900K Electronic Drum Set:

Don't be fooled. This kit is a great piece of gear, but when investing this much money, I'd probably go with something else. Here's why: Out of all the drum kits that were pre-set, only two sounded like actual acoustic drums. The cymbals responded and felt great, but the pads (even with the new head technology Yamaha is boasting about) still felt like they were a rubber pad, and offered very little realism regarding the feel of the drum.
