The DTX700 drum trigger module is packed with high quality acoustic drum, cymbal, and percussion voices featuring legendary Yamaha drums as well as a collection of sounds from the MOTIF XF synthesizer. There are a wide variety of preset kits and you can easily customize the sounds yourself. These kits are extremely realistic down to the smallest details (including snare buzz and tom resonance) so that you will feel like you are listening to a set of acoustic drums. With 1,268 naturally sampled acoustic drum and percussion voices, the DTX700 module will bring out your best drum playing by allowing you to focus on your performance.
You can add up to 64MB of new sounds to the DTX700K by importing wave samples directly into the module via the USB device port. The songs of the DTX700K let you play along with or without the pre-recorded drum track, with just the bass player, or with the full ensemble to make playing and practicing seem more like a real band rehearsal.
Yamaha's popular groove tools have set the standard for educational functions that are not only easy and fun to use, but actually help you become a better drummer. The DTX700K has a collection of training functions including the popular Groove Check that displays whether you are playing early or late, so you can more easily correct undesirable habits. Rhythm Gate is like a drumming game that automatically mutes the sound if you playing is too far out of time, so you quickly learn to control your groove and play "in the pocket". Practice has never been this much fun!
The DTX700K includes an audio input for connecting an external CD or MP3 player into the module so you can play along with your favorite music. Listen through the main outputs or only in your headphones so you can quickly master the piece you want to learn note for note.
The DTX700K is equipped with a high-performance, programmable metronome made for drummers that allows complicated rhythms and tones to be stored.
The DTX700K gives you expandability, too, with options for adding up to three additional pads if you need to have more toms, cymbals, or a double-bass configuration. Other upgrades, such as a larger DTX-PAD for the snare, are also possible.
The USB "HOST" port allows connection to a PC* using a single USB cable (sold separately) for sending MIDI data to music software such as Steinberg's Cubase AI (included). Use the USB "DEVICE" port for importing MIDI and audio from the computer into the module and for backing up your user data. The USB-MIDI DRIVER must be installed in order to connect the DTX700 to your PC.
With one-touch you can quickly switch the hi-hat closed pedal sound to replicate a secondary bass drum for easily replicating the sound of a double-bass kit without purchasing twin pedals or extra kick pads.

Comments about Yamaha DTX700 Series Drum Trigger Module:
I upgraded from the DTX500 to the DTX700 and what a difference. The range voices available are much more realistic. I would have a difficult time closing my eyes and not think that I was listening to acoustic drums. The DTX700 is programmable/customizable in just about every way you could imagine. You can even program in how much snare rattle you want as you hit other drums, or how much tom resonance sounds as something else is hit. One nice feature about the number of kits on the module is that each of the factory preset kits is fully customizable. You can even create custom kits over the preset kits you don't care for, and if decide you want to factory kit back in that spot, you can either just initialize a particular kit back to factory or the whole module. I love having all of the 3 zone cymbals as well. On one setting I programmed one cymbal to have a crash on the edge, a china on the bow, and the bell as a gong. On input number 12, the extra bass drum input for use with a hihat pedal, I was able to plug in another tom pad and program it for a 2nd floor tom, though I was unable to change some parameters that I wanted to on his channel. Another great feature is the on-the-fly mixer on the front of the module. I use my electronic kit at some shows where volume is an issue and have always struggled with what to do when a song needs more snare or toms, etc. The mixer on the DTX700 takes care of that issue. I've only had the module for a little over a week. There was a bit of a learning curve to begin with, but after a little messing around I feel like I'm getting the hang of getting what I want out of it. I haven't tried recording it through my Presonus board yet, but anticipate it to perform far better that the DTX500. That's saying a lot, as the DTX500 recorded quite well. I also haven't messed with importing sound files into the unit as of yet. Current set up is BD, HH, Snare, 3 3-zone cymbals, I one zone cymbal dedicated to splash, and 5 toms. Overall, I would highly recommend the DTX700 to players who demand a lot from their electronic kits

This module sounds great and it is very easy to learn and customize. I feel good about this purchase. It has every bell and whistle one would need.
