Play along to 10 songs and customize 10 kits to match your style. Or practice with interactive training functions featuring Voice Guidance.

The remote HH65 hi-hat controller pedal allows "half-open" hi-hat sounds for expression usually found on much higher priced kits. A steel rack delivers a solid framework for your playing experience.

I just want to say, if you're looking for a set you can connect to your computer and use as a midi controller. this is it. the included drum module connects and converts to midi via usb cable and the yamaha midi drivers. which means you still get the sensitivity of light to heavy hits on all pads and cymbals. They say this is an entry level kit but I don't see what more you could want for an ekit under 1k. The 10 kits included are alright, theres only like 2 that are top notch. The drum mute feature is great for beginners because you can easily practice with preloaded songs the module comes with, and not only that but you can turn on the metronome at any tempo. The kick isn't to noisy either which is good for some overnight playing. Overall this is a fantastic kit and I couldn't be anymore happy with my purchase. I'd recommend this to anyone.

This isn't a bad kit. But to guide buyers more appropriately, if you've played drums prior and intuitively know you'll want play a good kit, this isn't for you. If you've never played drums whatsoever and you're 15 years old, this is a great kit to the absolute beginner. Otherwise, [sarcasim] play the pots and pans in the kitchen and save your cash one more year for something like the DTX500 or 750. The module is even better. Call-outs that I dislike on this kit: --ONLY 10 drum kits. Guitar Center advertises this kit a little midleading. I've yet to see the 169 sounds, though Yamaha says you can only "mix" them, but this module is a simple 1-10 programming setup, that's it. -- The cables used for the drums/tom1/2, cymbal etc, are seemingly very cheap and fragile. -- The cymbals do not have stop action and are small. The kit is small in general, but the cymbals have irritated me. Otherwise, the structure is stable, and that's a plus but overall, DESIGNED FOR THE ABSOLUTE BEGINNER and who if learns to carry a beat in 5 months (which they'll likely do), this kit will then not be suitable.

Comments about Yamaha DTX430K Electronic Drum Set:

Bought this so that I could learn drums and try to record drum tracks for some of my songs. I'm not a drummer and this is my first kit of any kind, so I have no basis of comparison, keep that in mind. Works well so far as a midi controller via usb into logic x. Some decent drum sounds in the module. Not super adjustable, as far as pad positioning, but it works and with some tweaking can get things into a useable position. The high hat pedal is the weakest link, and it is basically unusable. I don't know if I just got a bad one, but it has no sensitivity and only registers about half of what my foot does. It will need to be replaced with something better if I'm ever going to learn what to do with my left foot.

Comments about Yamaha DTX430K Electronic Drum Set:

I bought this hoping to be able to practice in my apartment without using my real set. I spent around $500 on this thing and brought it home and set it up. Pretty easy set up, but that is the only highlight of this product. Nothing is adjustable, the drum pads are incredibly small compared to any other model in this price range and it only had 10 preset drum kits, which I recently bought the Alesis Forge set and it comes with over 100 presets, complete customization, bigger pads, adjustable symbols, drums and legs as well as a great module interface. Oh and this thing sounds like electronic drums, not even close to an acoustic set, which other kits in this price range sound somewhat comparable.

Yamaha has great products but this one is not. Do not buy, stay far far away. If you want to get a good kit, grab the Alesis or a Roland if you can afford it.

Comments about Yamaha DTX430K Electronic Drum Set:

I bought this kit because we are in the middle of a house transition and living in an apartment, so my acoustic kit is off limits. I do session work for a couple of studios part time with both guitar and drums. For an inexpensive kit, it allows me to plug into my laptop or iPad and record midi without any latency (using an Apogee interface with my laptop) using Toontrack EZDrummer, Superior, or Addictive drums. I actually really like the feel of the pads and they all are really responsive. If you read the manual, you'll notice that you can tweak everything from midi note sends to velocities per pad, this took a good long night to set up properly for my playing style. I never expected this to be a top tier Roland kit, so I was ok knowing that I wouldn't have some of the features like multi hit pads and and few other extras. The hi-hat controller works excellent once you adjust the pedal and sensitivity on the pad. Even if I was playing on a higher featured kit, I would still have to manually edit some midi data like extra crashes, velocities, and straightening some hits up, so no real loss there. Again, for what my intended use is, this is a great kit. If your buying this expecting to hear amazingly realistic sounding and feeling samples out of the brain, I would look else where, but then again, I don't like any of the brains (the big R included) compared to what you can get out of a few decent computer programs. Other things to note, it seems very sturdy, has a small footprint for a kit, and while it took some getting used to, I can get very nice rolls going on the pad, I may even check out the upgraded pads sooner than later. I'm not a very heavy hitter, so mileage may vary.

Comments about Yamaha DTX430K Electronic Drum Set:

I've been playing the drums since 2009 and this is my first electric drum kit. Overall it's not bad at all. It sounds pretty good and very responsive. Its works perfectly with an amp and their is no lag. The hard rock setting for the snare sounds odd but other than that great set.

Comments about Yamaha DTX430K Electronic Drum Set:

First of all, this is NOT a top end, mesh pads, multi-zone, 100+ kits with 500 total sounds, electric kit. Just look at the price. By the way, I have played those before and they are amazing.

As a drummer of 30+ years though, I will say that this more than impressed me. The 10 stock kits each have their place, and all sound great. The tom/snare pads feel almost real, definitely better than other electric kits that I have played in this price range. For most settings that you will be in, this kit out of the box is more than sufficient. When you get into the parameters though, it definitely shines. I expected some freedom in adjusting sounds, but was pleasantly surprised when I found that every aspect, of each pad, in each kit, was fully programmable. Voice, effects, volume, gating, velocity response, cross-talk, etc., ALL adjustable, and easy to do.

Add to all of this that the rack is the same diameter as my Gibraltar rack and that adds just one more convenience.

Comments about Yamaha DTX430K Electronic Drum Set:

I will start by saying that if you are expecting to find top-end electric drums in this price range you will not succeed. No this does not have true-to-feel mesh heads, 100+ pre-set kits, or other features like R***** Vdrums, but this isn't even in the same price range. Yes I have played those before and there is nothing like them.

Now that that has been said....

I've been playing for over 30 years at a semi-pro level, and I can honestly say that this kit is amazing!! The 10 pre-programmed kits sound great from the factory settings. Once I started playing with the parameters though, I was absolutely blown away. Every aspect of each pad is completely adjustable, in each kit. Simply because I could, I used my regular hi-hat and re-set the hi-hat pad to a slash cymbal. In a situation where you simply need a variety of snares? You have more than a dozen to select from. Want different reverb settings on the kick, cymbals, and toms? Simple. Want to change the cymbal on the maple kit to more of a vintage sound? Easy. Doing a set that has many different styles of songs? No problem. (I used 4 different kits in a small 6 song set). The versatility of this kit, and ease of setup, in the setting that I currently play, far outweighs the feeling of having to play "real" drums. I've often asked people, "What's more important, sound or appearance?" Are there situations where I will use one of my regular kits? Absolutely! But I believe that in most small setup situations anymore, I may lean towards grabbing this. When I use my full kit though, I will always have this with me though. Having over 40 percussion sounds in addition to the cymbal and drum sounds, this will be an excellent auxiliary add-on. Plus, the tubes are the same diameter as a Gibraltar rack which is very convenient.

Comments about Yamaha DTX430K Electronic Drum Set:

I got this kit to learn how to play, I've sat in acoustic drum kits just a couple of times in my time but I always felt I have certain ease for drumming. I'm very happy with the purchase! I can finally, properly learn and practice without being too noisy and the metronome is a great feature. I particularly love the audio input because I can hear the drums and the video lessons in my headphones while watching the videos on the computer, and then I just hit play on my practice playlist and jam with the songs I picked. The only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is that I'm constantly having to reposition and tighten up the snare and hi hat pole, I don't even hit them that hard but I guess because the hitting on those two is constant throughout most songs, it always ends up getting lower and lower, I have to adjust it every 15-20 minutes, I wish there was a different kind of lock to keep them in place and not just a knob that I swear I've tighten with all my strength.
