The DTX400 series electronic drums bring Yamaha quality and technology to a new level of affordability. The DTX400K is powered by the DTX400 module that features 169 professional acoustic drum and percussion sounds with Accent Articulation for dynamic expression. Play along to 10 songs and customize 10 kits to match your style. Or practice with interactive training functions featuring Voice Guidance.

The pads feature oversized 10" ride, hi-hat and crash cymbals, while the 7" drum pads have been redesigned for greater playability, authenticity and durability. As far as hardware goes, the DTX400K includes a real Yamaha bass drum pedal and a KU100 kick unit that provides an authentic kick drum feel. The remote HH65 hi-hat controller pedal allows "half-open" hi-hat sounds for expression usually found on much higher priced kits. A steel rack delivers a solid framework for your playing experience.

  • DTX400 module with 169 drum sounds and 127 instrument sounds
  • New KU100 kick unit for silent bass drum operation
  • Large 10" Ride and Crash cymbals and 10" Hi-Hat cymbal

Comments about Yamaha DTX400K Electronic Drum Set:

I got this unit to record in my studio and I'm not disappointed.I use a drum software call FXspanison BFD Eco which has real drum sounds with a 16 channel mixer and mic/Room effects in it.If you are looking for a low coast small Kit to set up in your studio then the DTX 400X is the kit to buy. With a good sound Software,A real Drummer (if you don't play yourself)and good recording gear you will get pro drum recording every time. The DTX 400K feels like a real Kit.With a little loosing of the bolts you can semi-break the kit down and store it away until the next session.

Fantastic Begiinner Set

By Anthony Tobianski

from Dallas, TX

Comments about Yamaha DTX400K Electronic Drum Set:

There are few options that are less expensive that this set, and the reviews of those are very mixed, with a good number of these stating that they lack responsiveness or lack stability. In my opinion, this set isn't lacking in any of these areas. Plus, the kick drum is simply a peddle(doesn't rely on a a mallet contacting a special component), and I thought this was a plus for in-home sessions. A standard drum set simply would not be an option for my living situation and I wouldn't be able to learn drums as effectively without this set.

Decent but the pedals could use a lot of improvement

By Jeff King

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Yamaha DTX400K Electronic Drum Set:

I bought an electric kit because I live in an upstairs apartment and the noise produced by playing the kit is a big issue. This kit was billed as being "silent" since the kick pedal didn't use a hammer. Within 10 minutes of playing when I first go it, I had the neighbor below me banging on the wall. I have since put down layers of blankets to try and minimize noise and vibrations, but unfortunately they have still complained. So if you're buying a kit with noise being a primary concern, you may want to consider other options. This is the first kit that I've bought so I can't compare the quality. The pedals don't seem to have the best response, but the rest of the pads seem to work well. The tones in the module don't sound professional quality to me but they also are not bad. The module is very light and didn't strike me as being high quality at first but it works seamlessly and it's easy to use. The training programs were good at first but I've since gravitated to training software and don't use them anymore. No problems plugging the module into a computer with USB either.

Comments about Yamaha DTX400K Electronic Drum Set:

Over all a pretty good set for the price. The only thing that I have noticed is a slight latency.
Going from and acoustic to this set takes a song or so to adjust to the slight difference. We use this set when going to small venues where we don't want to have to move the regular set. Frame folds up a bit and can be put in a back of a van with out complete disassemble which is nice
