The DSR115 Active Loudspeaker features an ideal combination of advanced digital sound processing and the latest acoustic technologies for Integral Digital Tuning, plus Yamaha's D-CONTOUR (Dynamic-CONTOUR) multiband dynamic processing for Intelligent Dynamic Control. The DSR115 is loaded with 2 Class-D amplifiers with a PFC (Power Factor Correction) switching mode power supply. One amplifier deliver 850 watts to a premium grade 12" neodymium woofer with 3" voice coil and a second amplifier supplies 450 watts to a large 2" high purity titanium diaphragm, neodymium, high-frequency compression driver. A LTBD (Long Throw, Broad Dispersion) Constant Directivity Waveguide Horn spreads the sound across 90° x 60°. The DSR115 has an impressive maximum SPL of 134dB peak.
The digital crossover networks use high-order FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filters providing linear phase response. Yamaha's proprietary FIR-X tuning technology simultaneously optimizes frequency and phase response, whilst adjusting the time alignment between the HF and LF transducers. The end result is substantially higher sound quality than can be achieved with conventional analog crossovers.
High Power DSP and 24-bit Discrete ADCs and DACs
All signals are precisely processed by a 48-bit internal processing, (76-bit accumulator), high performance processor for optimum sound quality. The DSR Series speakers employ high-precision discrete ADCs and DACs with superior S/N ratio and dynamic range. The analog signal is transmitted on dual channels, converted to digital and summed inside the processor. By using this algorithm, an approximately 3dB improvement in S/N ratio was realized. FIR-X tuning provides for the smoothest possible crossover transitions.
The D-CONTOUR multiband dynamic processor constantly monitors the amplifier output levels and adjusts the control system. This in turn varies the amount of boost in each frequency band, providing an ideal balance of dynamic sound with consistent clarity at all volume levels. D-CONTOUR can be turned on or off depending on the acoustic environment and type of sound desired.
1300W (LF 850W, HF450W) High Power, High Sound Quality Class-D Amplifiers
Yamaha's next-generation Class-D amplifiers deliver as much as 1300W of power with precision damping for tight and crisp sound from compact, lightweight modules. Through the ideal combination of amplifiers, transducers, and DSP, the DSR Series loudspeakers provide the highest levels of power in their class, while maintaining precise dynamics and sound reproduction. Efficiency is such that convection cooling is all that is necessary, eliminating the need for fans.
Full Resonance Switching Mode Power Supply with PFC (Power Factor Correction)
The DSR Series employs a Yamaha-developed high-efficiency switching mode power supply with PFC. The full resonance switching method uses both voltage resonance and current resonance, creating a clean power supply waveform with minimal high frequency noise. PFC harmonizes the phases of the load current and power supply voltage, maximizing power output and ensuring stable operation under severe conditions. This clean, efficient power supply enables the entire speaker system to achieve its full performance potential.
3-Way Fail-Safe Protection
To ensure the highest possible reliability, the DSR Series employs many of the same protection functions used in Yamaha's top-class TXn Series professional power amplifiers. These functions protect all aspects of the power supply, power amplifier modules and transducers so that they can operate to their full potential while ensuring fail-safe operation even under the most severe conditions.
The DSR115 performs as main PA and is stand and pole mountable, with a 35mm pole socket. M10 rigging points allow for suspended installation.
Note: The limited warranty on DSR-Series loudspeakers is extended to five years. In addition, all qualified DSR purchasers, thus far, are also retroactively covered by this extension, from the date of original sale.

I've used these for indoor and outdoor gigs, you can notice the sound quality better when they are at outdoor events and put sound much further then is usually needed. Had a couple weddings where I was asked to turn down because of noise complaints. A little pricey, but worth every penny.
I'm a Mobile DJ from Patterson CA, Covering the Bay Area and Central Valley. I never wrote a review about anything I purchased in my life; but this New Yamaha DSR15 is the best speaker I purchased in a long time! I purchased the NEW QSC powered 15 and I was very disappointed that I couldnۡt get that JBL bass out of them, actually any heart throbbing bass out of them! I wanted a speaker I can take to a gig for about 200 people or less, Without dragging my JBL SRX718 around for bass to a smaller venue, A sales person from 1 Stop DJ Stop in Modesto, told me that Yamaha had a new line of speakers the DSR series, so I went to Guitar Center and heard them, I said WOW, that is unreal! I was blown away by the feeling of the bass and the clear crisp sound. I swap out my QSC for the Yamaha DSR15 the same day and never look back; oh yeah! I even got money back with a 2 year extended warranty for the switch. I noticed one thing if youۡre in the contour mode; you won't get as much bass, but the clarity is allot cleaner, I use the contour mode when I take my bass cabinet. If I had it in the contour disable mode with the bass cabinet I was getting complaints about the bass hitting to hard, with still a clean sound. I used them for about 10+ gigs already and I can't get these speakers to distort at all. Allot of my DJ friends heard my new sound, and was shocked I didnۡt have my SRX with me and was amazed about the clarity and bass I was getting. Now look who is selling their old equipment and saving some of there DJ cash to switch to Yamaha. Please make your own choice this is my opinion about the DSR series. Later, DJ Johnnie D.
I've been a DJ in L.A. for over 15 years now and have done everything from small mobile gigs to large clubs. I've used a lot of BAD gear and a fair share of great gear. I transitioned from the traditional "amp rack/passive speaker" systems to powered speakers about 6 years ago and have used most of the major powered spaeker brands. I just picked these bad boys up last night and they sounded AMAZING. The sound quality is well rounded and there's PLENTY of power. While at G.C. I listened to the new JBL 515XT EON's, JBL PRX615M, and K Series QSC's... and went with the Yamahas. They simply sounded better! Well worth the price. Three or four gigs and you'll make your money back.
i bought this speaker setup to use with my Pod HD 500, i couldnt be happier it amplifies my patches without coloring the sound and it is extremely loud and clear. also has lots of internal protection and is built like a tank. its a little pricey but this is a very high quality speaker, right up there with QSC, Mackie and JBL. i have a pair of JBL jrx 2x15 and those speakers can not come close to the sound quality this thing puts out. i would highly recommend this speaker to anyone entering the guitar modeler world.
I posted a simple review for the 12" model. This review I will go more in depth. For the DSR115, I was blown away how pure, and clean this cabinet sounded. It was very warm, and crisp, exactly what I was hoping. Yamaha has come a long way, and to introduce this speaker to compete with QSC, JBL, Mackie, and Yorkville, they did a fantastic job. The exterior is solid, with a tour grade finsih on it, and it was a great addition to add 2 handles, one on each side, (the JBLPRX615 only has one on one side). The amps were running super cool, and they were NO WHERE close to clipping, and it was very loud, around 119 dB. The DSR is at the same level of craftmanship as the QSC, and JBL, but has better response, due to the wood cabinet. The inputs are simple, and straight forward. The cool feature is, the DSR has a button on the back, press it once for high pass filter, again for full range, and again for a special EQ that Yamaha designed specifically for the DSR112 and 115. Use this with either a JBL PRX sub, or even the new Yamaha DSR 18 sub, it sounds great. One little feature I love is the switchable White LED in front. The LED is recessed in about an inch behind the grill, so you cannot break it, and you can turn it off if wanted, like the QSC's. The JBL PRX do not do that, it is illuminated the entire time the cabinet is on. I recommend this speaker, and urge you to go hear it for yourself, it will give you a different oppinion about Yamaha!
