Overview

The drummer-friendly and stylish design of the Yamaha DD-65 drum machine marks a transition to a more professional and versatile digital-drumming instrument.

It features an aux in jack that lets you connect an MP3 player and play along with your favorite music, or load MIDI songs from the internet into the internal Flash ROM memory and play along. Stereo-sampled voices, a wide variety of percussion sounds from all over the world, a bass boost speaker system, and digital stereo processing give the Yamaha DD-65 an irresistible, thundering beat.

The drum machine's control panel includes intuitive features that are easy to operate. For example, select the Hand Percussion mode and the digital drum kit automatically switches to percussion voices like congas and bongos. With its powerful features, this drum machine is no toy.

Operates on six "C"-size batteries or Yamaha PA150 or PA5D power adapter. See survival kit C (#701588)

Sounds Nearly As Good As A Real Set of Drums

By Chuck Hankinson

from Elizabeth City, NC

I am giving this device 4 stars because it does not come with the power cord. That is stated here, but I bought the unit in the store and no one said anything about needing a power cord. Very disappointed when I got home (Guitar Center is an hour away in another state) and found I needed a power cord or 6 "C" batteries. I would never count on batteries for something like this. So, if you're going to buy this, add $29.99 to the price and get the Yamaha PA-150 power adapter. That being said, we bought this so that our church band could travel without loading up a huge set of drums every time. It sounds great. With my eyes closed, it was almost hard to tell that it wasn't a real set of drums. There are many improvements from the DD-55 that make it more user friendly and also improve the sound. I highly recommend this unit, provided you get the power cord.

No Power card is a DEAL BREAKER !!!

By Katie Dummermuth

from Jacksonville

Great quality Yamaha product but the fact that it doesn't come with a power cord is a marketing blunder. I will never ever buy a Yamaha product again if it doesn't come with a power cord. Not to mention the fact that it takes an hour of searching to find the recommended power cord on-line for a rediculus price. I also went to several stores without any luck to look for an equvilant cord including Radio Shack, Best Buy and several other music stores. As far as the Drum machine, I would prefer a better style of foot pedal, better drum sticks, and finally, more high hat and base sound options.

Prett good for a little Guy

By Mickey

from Cabot Arkansas

I am not a drummer (I play guitar), but when the opportunity to get this electronic drum set cheap came up, I went for it. Over all I like this set a lot. If I plug everything in (2 pedals, MP3 Player, outputs to my system or head phones) and crank up all fo the bells and whistles, I realize how many features this fun little drum set has. The pads have great rebound but the sound falls off fast if you don't hit them exactly in the middle. It has a ton of kits and programming is pretty easy. Overall size is crazy small for 8 Pads so targeting when you are really jamming gets a little iffy. However, for a non-drummer I have a blast playing along to all of my favorites The DD-65 is only worth 4 stars, but it is the only real option for a small, fully functional micro electronic drum set. Is it perfect? No... but the bottom line is I love this darn thing

Yamaha Digital Drum Machine is Awesome!

By David Fiske

from Monroe, NC

I just purchased the Yamaha Digital Drum Machine and enjoy playing it as much or more than my Yamaha DTXplorer Set! In fact, I think they sound better! I can play both sets separately or together. So, basically, I've expanded my DTXplorer Set with the Digital Drum Machine. I can play an expanded Latin Set with different drums on both sets or play an Acoustic Set on one & Latin on the other. I originally purchased the Digital Drum Machine to serve as a second set of drums for an event that I'm performing, where I go back & forth between two different venues. In the larger venue, I'll use both sets together. For the smaller venue, I'll carry the Digital Drum Machine with me (because it's so portable) and play it primarily for hand percussion (Latin), but also have a full set of drums if I need it. Whether you're considering purchasing the Yamaha Digital Drum Machine for a stand alone set or to expand your current set, I highly recommend it!

Easy to setup and play

By John Costanzo

from Westford,MA

This drum machine is great for and level of drummer. You can practice with the different presets already build in the machine. I love how compact it is. You can also set which pad will play a sound. Plad 1: snare, Pad 2: high tom, and etc. I recommend this to any drummer who love to play the drums. Also you can play any musical style from Rock, Blue, Jazz, Latin, etc..

Great for Non-Drummers

By A Guitar Guy

from Voorhees, NJ

If you are looking for a unit to supplement drum tracks this is an outstanding unit. I use it with EzDrummer and it works great with the BFD2 Demo. The feel and sensitivity are great and the unit seems very well made. It does not have the bells and whistles of a full electronic kit, but if you are a non-drummer, you probably don't need all of this anyway. The kick pedal is not very good, and should probably be replaced if you want to record a kick track, but the unit is great overall.
