Yamaha's Club Concert series features refinements aimed at permanent installations with an elastomeric spray coating that easily fits any décor, is very tough, and readily paintable to match surroundings. The audio speaker's steel grilles are foam-lined with acoustically transparent material to provide a more subdued appearance.
Assembled by hand by skilled technicians, each speaker cabinet is designed for better low-end response and includes heavy steel handles and sturdy pole sockets to make moving and positioning easy. The CW218V subwoofer has custom drivers from Eminence that feature high-strength curvilinear cones and Kapton voice coil formers, plus oxygen-free copper voice coils and oversize strontium ferrite magnets to provide high power handling and long life. 15" and 18" drivers use cast aluminum frames to support the massive magnet structure, eliminate flex, and dissipate heat.
The titanium diaphragm compression driver is mated to a 90 degree x 40 degree custom-designed horn. Internal electronics feature an over-built crossover network and overload protection. Connections are dual Neutrik Speakon and 1/4" jacks. With professional features, excellent sonic performance, and great value, Club Concert Series loudspeakers deliver premium quality night after night.
The CW218V reigns supreme with 2 cast-frame 18" woofers and 30Hz-2kHz frequency response (-10dB). It features 1,220W program handling with 2,400W peak. Sensitivity: 98dB. 48"W x 23"H x 26"D. 132 lbs.

I bought a couple of these a few months back to use in my PA business. I've used them at a couple of different outdoor festivals now and they sound great. The bass is tight and not muddy. I'm running an 800 watt per channel Crown and I'm running out of amp before I'm running out of speaker. These will handle 1,200 watts each so I'm looking at upgrading my amp rack to add more power. These are smooth and don't hurt your ears, they are louder than you think they are. Cheap speakers at these volumes sound harsh, don't confuse harsh with loud. These are loud and smooth.
I bought 2 of these Yamaha CW218V in June of 09, 18months no problems what so ever. After reading a horrible review, I had to stick up for these!! I have used them indoors and outdoors they have held up and performed great each time! Outdoors I use them with 2-EAW FR250z as mid lows and 2-EV SX300's + 2-EAW FR129's as Highs. Indoors I use 2 of the Yamaha CW218V's with 2-JBL 15" EON's. Notice the other brand names used... great products! These subs are great if used properly. I use a Crown CE4000 to power them and a comp/limiter to lower the chance of blowing them(FYI).
Bought two of these 4 months ago to use as our main subs on tour. Sent them back 3 times already and now Yamaha is refusing to aid us in resolving the problem. Running them with Crown XTi-4000 in stereo-4ohm mode (which matches the specs of the subs) and have had problems from cones ripping, to just absolute failure. "Tech Support/Warranty" claims it could take 6 months to resolve this. So we resorted to simply sending them back on their way back to the factory with no furter questions for Yamaha. Not even asking for our money back. We just don't want Yamaha nor their incompetent employees near our rig anymore!
