I bought this Yamaha 1/2 size classical guitar for a younger kid who has an ear for music and wants to play classical guitar. He loves it. But I also liked the size and sound enough to buy one for myself to have fun with. I have an Ovation. But this half size Yamaha looks great, is easy to transport in a small gig bag and fun to play. It has a nice mellow sound which is surprising for its size. It's sound and beautiful look are what grabbed my attention. For beginners learning to play classical guitar it has great sound for its size which will keep them playing. For adults who want good sound but need something small to pack lightly and go with, it's a little gem.
I bought this guitar to serve as a travel guitar and for my kids to learn on. Its overall quality and sound is pretty much what i expected for the type and price. There are no problems with tuning, and there is no buzzing of the strings, like is often the case with other guitars of this size. It is bigger than i expected, and unfortunately means that i can't pack it in a large suitcase as i was hoping, but at least my kids (ages 7 & 9) won't outgrow it for a while. Though i didn't expect it to sound exactly like a full-size guitar, it would have gotten 5 stars if it did.
This guitar sounds really nice!
I was looking for a "real" guitar for my son who, at 3, loves to make music. I really wanted something that he would enjoy playing, would hold the tuning and that he could grow into over the next few years. This guitar met all of my expectations and then some. For the price, it can't be beat. Sound is remarkable for the size. The quality is also surprising for such an inexpensive instrument. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great little starter guitar.
