Overview

The craftsmen at Yamaha specially redesigned the guitars in their CG series with slightly thinner sides and back as well as a thinner finish to deliver better sound response. These acoustic instruments also have thinner necks to increase playability, and are slightly lighter in weight, offering greater volume as well as extended comfort. The overall results are classical guitars that deliver a mature, balanced tone throughout their entire range with exceptional quality, durability and value.

A great guitar!

Comments about Yamaha CG171C Cedar Top Classical Guitar:

My first guitar I bought 40 years ago was a Yamaha. I picked it up at the Guitar Center in Los Angeles and it had the sound of a Martin and was ten times cheaper. I wish I still had that guitar, but I left it in a campsite somewhere up in Canada and was never able to recover it. But the quality hasn't changed. This is a great little guitar and nylon is great on the fingers, believe me. If you don't pick the guitar up every day to play, the nylon strings will let you play for hours on end, versus the steel, which will get to your fingertips within a couple of hours. The neck on this guitar is indeed slim and the body is unbelievable light. I guess I'm used to the acoustic-electrics. Anyway, it's a great all around guitar for practice and playability.
