Overview

The AUDIOGRAM Series has been carefully designed to make setting up your computer-based recording environment an absolute breeze. Coming as a complete kit, the AUDIOGRAM6 Computer Recording System bundles together a hardware interface that adds audio inputs and outputs to your computer, software for recording and producing music, and a USB cable for connecting the audio interface.

This package will instantly turn your computer into a powerful yet intuitive tool for recording and editing audio from virtually any microphone or audio input device. What's more, setup is as easy as installing the bundled music-production application, CUBASE AI, on your computer and connecting the audio interface using the USB cable provided. You're then ready to connect instruments, microphones, CD players, MP3 players, and even old record or tape players for recording straight into CUBASE AI.

Audio interface also with mixer functionality

With the Yamaha AUDIOGRAM6, you get a powerful mixer-type audio interface with two mono input channels and two stereo input channels. Each of the two mono channels features combo-type connectors for direct connection of a wide range of sound input devices. And because you can change the input sensitivity of each channel for direct connection of electric guitars and basses with a push of the MIC/INST select buttons, there's no need to study up on impedance and other specialist recording topics.

One-touch switching between mono and stereo inputs

Using the PAN button, you can instantly turn the two mono input channels on your AUDIOGRAM6 into a fully panned stereo channel and vice versa. For example, you can use this Stereo Coupling function when recording live performances, outdoor audio material, and many other stereo sources with a pair of dynamic microphones. In fact, Stereo Coupling also allows your interface to function beautifully as a simple mixer with three stereo input channels.

USB bus-powered interface

Powered via USB, the AUDIOGRAM6 requires no external power supply. As long as your computer is powered up and connected via the bundled USB cable, the interface will be fully functional, making it ideal for mobile situations or when few power sockets are available.

Setting compression has never been easier

Unlike normal compressors, which can be very difficult to adjust, the 1-knob compressors on the AUDIOGRAM6 are super simple. As the name suggests, you can adjust compression for smoother and more balanced recordings using just a single knob. Particularly when recording acoustic guitar, electric bass, and vocals, this intuitive feature will make your recordings much more stable and professional sounding.

Easy Balancing Of Audio Inputs And Playback

Using the AUDIOGRAM6 interface's Monitor Mix function, you can conveniently balance the volume of audio input from external sources and the volume of audio recorded on the USB-connected computer. Because the volume of audio playback from the computer can be adjusted using the DAW knob while the overall volume for the headphones or stereo output can be set using the MASTER knob, it is easy to achieve the perfect balance between external audio devices and tracks already recorded.

Good Interface...

By Tyler Williams

from Richfield, Pennsylvania

Comments about Yamaha AUDIOGRAM 6 COMPUTER RECORDING SYSTEM:

I myself have a Yamaha Audiogram 6, the best part is the amount of inputs that you have to record tracks, much more than M-Audio interfaces in the price range, however I don't like how all your lines are connected to the top, i wish the inputs were in the back, it makes quite the cluster, allthough it is easier to access if your switching instruments often, Cubase is a GREAT program, many say Pro Tools is industry standard but Cubase is amazing. I suggest upgrading to some sort of Cubase 5 though. But for the price with preamps and Phantom Power this is a good allmost great Value.

Terrible with Vista32

By Ivan D

from San Diego

Comments about Yamaha AUDIOGRAM 6 COMPUTER RECORDING SYSTEM:

I was really excited about this interface at first but Ive never got it to work without some massive errors. The drivers for this baby are pretty bad. It's one saving grace is that it comes with Cubase AI. If the drivers were solid this would be a great interface but as it stands I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

its alright...

By Brenden Jimenez

from California.

Comments about Yamaha AUDIOGRAM 6 COMPUTER RECORDING SYSTEM:

this little interface is good for people getting started with music and recording. the only problem i have with this device is the hiss that is audible on every input on the interface. this stupid annoying hiss can and will be heard through all of the tracks you record, so just a warning to any potential buyers. the other issue i have is the latency. the unit has about a quarter second delay, which makes double tracking sound like its being chorused. besides this, its a great little thing, and cubase is also amazing.

Best entry level interface out there

By Henry

from Dandridge, TN

Comments about Yamaha AUDIOGRAM 6 COMPUTER RECORDING SYSTEM:

I am a beginner at Audio recording, wanted something that I could use on my computer and wanted it to be simple. I read the reviews, watched the videos, and decided to buy this unit. It was easy to set up and easy to understand the instructions. The Cubase software that is included makes this a really sweet deal. There is no latency, What you play is what you hear, no delay, easy to record with this setup. Since I am new to this I can't really give much detail about some of the features, I am posting this review to confirm for anyone wondering about the simplicity of this recording system, and to those like me starting out that need simplicity.

Great in concept but, lacking one very important feature

By Nathan

from Edmonds, wa

Comments about Yamaha AUDIOGRAM 6 COMPUTER RECORDING SYSTEM:

This interface is wonderful in concept, features and price EXCEPT there is no way to switch between hearing the input and/or the playback. You can either hear the input or a mix of the input and playback which then doubles the input and quickly distorts. There is a knob names DAW, all the way to the left is only input and all the way to the right is a complete mix of input and playback. no playback only. This must be something yamaha just overlooked and it is sad because everything else about this thing is great. So, if you are recording direct and only using effect in line with the input, this should work for you. otherwise, you will have some problems. I hope yamaha will fix this because this thing really has potential.

The best audio interface for $150 bucks!

By Andrew

from Brooklyn, NY

Comments about Yamaha AUDIOGRAM 6 COMPUTER RECORDING SYSTEM:

If you've owned a Mobilepre or Tascam US-144, this interface will make you believe why Yamaha are one of the true contenders in digital music technology. I was very skeptic at first because of its price, but when I recorded a session it was a huge contrast to the M-Audio or Tascam interfaces. The Audiogram 6 provides way more headroom than its competitors. It has such a clean and thick presence even when you use the built in compressors. There's no interface at this price to even offer hands on compression/gain. Jump on it!
