With dynamics, sensitivity and clarity built into the design from day one, APX is a guitar not to be underestimated.

Body depth and Bracing pattern
The APX's thin-line body offers incredible comfort, top-fret access, and a sound perfect for on-stage use. Specially designed non-scalloped X-type bracing maximizes body resonance for full, natural tone. Their wide dynamic range, excellent sensitivity, and outstanding clarity make them impressive performers.

The instantly recognizable APX soundhole thickens lower-mid response and gives a more strident, open low end.

Comments about Yamaha APX500III Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar because the wide bodied acoustic guitars hurt my wrist after playing for a while. The angle of my wrist playing this thinner bodied guitar is very similar to playing an electric guitar so I can play it all day with no pain. The APX sounds much better than any other thin bodied acoustic I have played. They are all lifeless. This guitar amazes me. It is bright, but with good balance and resonance. The build quality is superb. I have the natural finish. It is a beautiful guitar. I highly recommend it, especially for the price. You can not beat the value.

Comments about Yamaha APX500III Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I haven't even picked up a guitar in over thirty years. As I get a little older, I realized that I wanted to really learn to play. I did a lot of research online looking for the "perfect" acoustic-electric guitar for the inexperienced/novice player on a budget. The Yamaha always had great reviews so I went to my local store to sit down and play this guitar, as well as a few others in this price range. Nothing else I tried that day even came close to the sound and playability of this guitar. It has a deep, rich tone for such a thin bodied guitar. The neck is superb, and the frets feel polished and smooth. I made my purchase and immediately had a set up done and changed the strings to Elixir's based on a friend's recommendation. WOW!! The new strings made it sound even richer!! I am having a blast learning, and I look forward to practicing every chance I get. Thank you, Yamaha, for giving an older guy the gift of music again!!

Comments about Yamaha APX500III Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I went to my local store and spent a few hours playing on a plethora of electric-acoustic guitars (both plugged and unplugged) and I came across this little thinline and immediately loved the sound. It has more bass response than my old e-a and sounds great when plugged into a bass amp. i also discovered that it fits into a classical guitar hardshell case so i didn't have to special order a thinline specific one.

Comments about Yamaha APX500III Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was not interested in buying another guitar when I went to my local music store where I frequent for my music supply needs. As usual I took the opportunity to play a few models they had on display. The APX500III was the 3rd guitar I picked up. It's the second time I had seen it at the store but the first time playing it. I have to admit I was put off by the thin body design as I enjoy larger, deeper, dreadnought acoustics. My first impression when picking it up was the light weight, again leading me to think I shouldn't expect much out of this weird looking oval sound hole. Man was I wrong. Way wrong. The sound that this guitar produces had me hooked immediately. And more than that was the ease of play and the comfortable feel. I spent the drive home rethinking everything I had learned and researched about guitars. I told my wife about the experience and she insisted I drive back and purchase it. I didn't hesitate. I have owned this guitar for about a year now and it is still my favorite go to guitar. My family can tell when I'm playing this guitar versus my other models from another room. It really screams on the mids and highs but I'm most impressed with the low end from such a thin body lightweight guitar. Don't get me wrong, it's not in the same league as your solid body Martins or Taylor's, but for the price and feel I like it more than any other I've played in its class. This guitar has made me a better guitar player simply because I can't put the dang thing down. Yamaha really found something special in this design. Very proud owner. Highly recommend for beginners on up.

Comments about Yamaha APX500III Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have owned and played a lot of different acoustic and electric guitars over the past 30 years, but have never owned an acoustic-electric. All the other A-E models that I've played have a cheap "plinky" sound when not going through an amp, so I was highly reluctant to pay money for one. Furthermore, I've never been a fan of Yamaha. Based on the reviews of this model, as well as a handsome price tag, I thought it might be worth the gamble. Behold, even with the factory strings, I was impressed with the sonorous tones and feel of this guitar.

Comments about Yamaha APX500III Thinline Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been plying electric guitar for nearly two years and decided it was time to get an acoustic. I bought a yamaha FG700 but took it back because it was too large for my body type. I tried the FS700 but it was still a little too big, although it sounded very good. I finally picked up thinline in black and couldn't be happier. The sound is amazing, especially considering its size. The build quality is flawless and the fretboard is smooth. The action was near perfect out of the box, much better than I expected at this price point. It sounds even better plugged and the EQ is very effective in getting a nice variety of sounds. I played a few more expensive guitars and ended up picking this one at the end because of the size, tone and playability. It feels more like a hollow body electric but sounds like any full size acoustics out there. I would buy it again without question.
