These tom's are amazing. They sound like toms that are much more expensive. Stage custom is by far Yamaha's best valued drum kit. These toms shine with about any head. I prefer pinstripes of ambassadors. These toms really shine though in unmiced gigs. The Birch accents a mid tone in a way where it sounds like it has been EQ'd. Great miced too though. You can't go wrong with these toms.
As a drummer this tom delivers everything needed to get the job done. I can tune it get any sound I desire. This is a top-quality drum with a very reasonable price.
I own a 5 pc. stage custom kit in rasberry metallic. Its a 10, 10, 14, 14, 20. The color is really unique it looks great. The hardware is reallly solid and the Y.E.S.S. mounts really make these sing. I have coated ambassadors on top and they sound great. I use it mainly as a 4 pc. jazz kit so I don't get as much use out of the 12". But it is still a great buy, you wont be dissapointed.
