The NTX900FM is a capable instrument, delivering everything from subtle fingerpicking to flatpick solos.

Yamaha's NTX900 Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar easily accommodates a wide range of musical and playing styles and offers the perfect place to start exploring your music and nylon string sound. The versatile, contemporary styled NTX line is designed with thinner bodies, narrower necks, 14th fret neck joints, and cutaway designs to provide greater comfort and playability for today's steel-string acoustic and electric players. These instruments are perfect for adding nylon string tone to a wide range of musical styles from latin to jazz, pop to rock. Built on the thinline platform, the Yamaha classical guitar features a cutaway, for comfort when playing in the higher register fret positions. This NTX starts with a solid Engelmann spruce top, for warm, balanced tone. The neck features nato, a softer wood, while the back and sides are flamed maple, giving a beautiful and wavy veneer. Also known as "curly maple", flamed maple is prized for its bright, stunning appearance. Hard and strong, it is often used for necks on electric guitars. When used for backs and sides it produces a crisp, clear, less resonant tone that cut through well making it great for lead playing. The Yamaha NTX900 acoustic electric guitar also features the A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement), an original wood reforming technology developed by Yamaha. Through precise control of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years. In NX Series guitars, this treatment results in a sound close to that of a vintage guitar that has been played for years. It produces a sharper tone while simultaneously controlling dissonance in the high range. Instruments that have undergone this process have received high marks from a great number of musicians. Their evaluations are nearly identical to those for guitars that have been played for years, and their comments often include terms such as "well settled," "mature," "warm," "excellent resonance," and "clear."Yamaha's ART (Acoustic Resonance Transducer) pickup system is purpose designed to offer the most natural, dynamic and expressive electro-acoustic sound on the market. Proprietary multi-layer contact sensors perfectly combine ultra-wide dynamic range with outstanding feedback rejection for the most accurate and natural performance sound. The Yamaha NTX900 uses a 2-way system with contact pickups mounted on the treble and bass sides of the guitar bridge. To reduce unwanted feedback caused by vibration the NX Series contact pickup uses an additional multilayer damper to ensure the tone is captured in its purest form. Complementing the warm, full mid-range of the nylon-string tone, the System 61 preamp allows individual volume control over the treble and bass side pickups, allowing you to get the perfect blend for your style. The System 61 preamp also features a 3-band EQ for sound shaping and an on-board tuner.Dressed in a natural finish, this Yamaha acoustic electric guitar will turn heads and ears with its construction, beauty and sound. And thanks to the pickup system, amplification is a cinch.

  • Found what I was looking for.

As reviewed by Revani on 6/7/2010

I love this guitar. I was looking for a versatile guitar that could play jazz, classical and contemporary music. After months of researching online and saving (I am poor college student:) I decided to buy this guitar. I fell in love the minute I opened the box. The wood and finish on this guitar is gorgeous. I especially like the tuning pegs. The action is perfect for what I play. It is low and fast. I love the sound of the nylon strings. I also like the "pick-up" in the guitar. It allows me to boost just the bass or the treble which makes it great for soloing. Overall, I am very pleased with this guitar. It is light and easy to carry around.

As reviewed by Cris on 12/3/2010

...Thanks to rodrigo y gabriela the ntx and ncx were created. I play their song "logos" on my old guitar and dont like sound but when i first played this song on the ntx it sounded like the studio recording. out of all the guitars i have played, this the wright one for me. you dont have to switch to a different guitars to play a different song. i can play ACDCs "highway to hell" and play some mariachi and flamenco music with the same guitar.its like 1000 guitars in one.
