Thinner body and narrower neck, offering ultimate control, playability and distinguished Yamaha nylon-string sound.

Like the NTX1200 and NTX900, Yamaha's NTX700 Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar easily accommodates a wide range of musical and playing styles and offers the perfect place to start exploring your music and nylon string sound. The versatile, contemporary styled NTX line is designed with thinner bodies, narrower necks, 14th fret neck joints, and cutaway designs to provide greater comfort and playability for today's steel-string acoustic and electric players.

This Yamaha guitar is perfect for adding nylon-string tone to a wide range of musical styles from latin to jazz, Pop to Rock. Built on the classical platform, Yamaha's NTX700 acoustic-electric classical guitar features a cutaway, for comfort when playing in the higher register fret positions. This NTX starts with a solid spruce top, for warm, balanced tone. The neck, back, and sides feature nato, a soft hardwood for a balanced, crisp sound and full volume range.

The Yamaha NTX700 also features the A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement), an original wood reforming technology developed by Yamaha. Through precise controll of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years. In NX Series guitars, this treatment results in a sound close to that of a vintage guitar that has been played for years. It produces a sharper tone while simultaneously controlling dissonance in the high range. Instruments that have undergone this process have received high marks from a great number of musicians. Their evaluations are nearly identical to those for guitars that have been played for years, and their comments often include terms such as "well settled," "mature," "warm," "excellent resonance," and "clear."

Yamaha's ART (Acoustic Resonance Transducer) pickup system is purpose designed to offer the most natural, dynamic and expressive electro-acoustic sound on the market. Proprietary multi-layer contact sensors perfectly combine ultra-wide dynamic range with outstanding feedback rejection for the most accurate and natural performance sound. The Yamaha classical guitar uses a 2-way system with contact pickups mounted on the treble and bass sides of the guitar bridge. To reduce unwanted feedback caused by vibration the NX Series contact pickup uses an additional multilayer damper to ensure the tone is captured in its purest form. Complementing the warm, full mid-range of the nylon-string tone, the System 61 preamp allows individual volume control over the treble and bass side pickups, allowing you to get the perfect blend for your style. The System 61 preamp also features a 3-band EQ for sound shaping and an on-board tuner. Case sold separately.

  • Love it!

As reviewed by Troy Heatley on 9/15/2010

Great guitar. Have shopped around for months looking for a suitable classical guitar for me. I even bought another one about a hundred dollars less and had to take it back. The quality, sound, and playability didn't even compare to this Yamaha. Definately worth the price.

  • Incredible value for a pristine instrument

As reviewed by FunkThat on 12/30/2010

I just picked this up today, after playing it a few weeks ago and debating the purchase of a classical guitar. My very first guitar was a classical and it's heartbreaking to see what state it's in now. It was time for a new one and I had also written a song for my band intended to be Spanish sounding and to be played on a classical. After hours in GC testing different Cordoba's, Yamaha's, Takamine's and M. Rodriguez's I found this baby. I was looking to stay around $200 since I had just bought an electric. But this one played so beautifully and easily that I couldn't stop playing it. Everytime I went back to another model, I kept wanting this NTX700 back in my hands. The craftsmanship is pretty amazing for the price. It plays like a $1,000 guitar in my opinion and certainly sounds like one. It sounded fantastic for adult contemporary stuff like Sting plays, but also sounded very traditional with Rodrigo Y Gabriela type strumming. The latter in fact endorses this line of Yamaha's. I can see why, they sound impeccable. I've never played an acoustic guitar steel or nylon that felt this easy to play and had so much tone. The body is narrower, but if you normally play electric, you feel at home on this body. I plan on using it live, and it has a great array of EQ knobs and sliders as well as an on-board tuner. My only gripe is the tuner does not go into mute while it's on, so your audience will hear you tuning if you don't have a pedal tuner as well. Overall, a truly amazing buy for a guitar I plan on having for ages. I love that I found my classical sound again.

  • Love this Guitar

As reviewed by Steve Argereow on 2/7/2011

I?m a professional whose been playing since 1958. This Guitar is a fabulous instrument in this price range! It is light and has a great overall feel to it. The neck feels more like a steel string than a traditional classical neck, which are usually wider. Playability is superb! The instrument does not have a deep or pure classical sound when played as a pure acoustic or mic?ed (Think Mason William?s Classical Gas), If you intend playing under those conditions I would not recommend this guitar. However, when plugged into a sound system; I use 2 Bose L1 systems (large venues) or a Fender Acoustasonic SFX (small venues), this Guitar will blow you away! The Duel Pickups and Control Section allows me to adjust for just the sound I want. The instrument will play soft and beautifully on a ballad but also have a kick to it on and up-tempo light rock or country piece. It also seems like the 9V battery last 2 or 3 times longer than on my other guitars. This one of ten guitars I own, but I absolutely love playing the NTX700. I will be gigging with it somewhere in North Carolina this week. The NTX700 proves that you don?t have to pay 3000 bucks to get a great guitar!
