Quality piano sounds and great touch in a sleek, lightweight, and affordable keyboard.

The NP-30 Portable Grand delivers Yamaha digital piano sound and simplicity in a new lightweight, compact design like nothing else you've seen... all at a price point you won't believe. Its super slim design and minimal weight of 12 pounds makes it the most compact performer in the digital piano family of instruments. And 6 "AA" batteries (not included) are all you need to power up and start playing immediately.Graded Soft Touch ActionBecause of its similarity to acoustic pianos, a graded action is one of the primary features sought by pianists in their digital instruments. While technically a non-weighted action, the new Graded Soft-Touch keyboard is the first of its kind bringing different levels of resistance without the extra weight of moving hammers the key contributor to the NP-30's fighting weight of only 12 pounds. The end result is a very playable action that will appeal to pianists who want to take their music anywhere. AWM Stereo Piano SamplesAdvanced Wave Memory is Yamaha's exclusive format for reproducing sounds digitally. And stereo means that Yamaha used two microphones to record the piano you hear on every key of the NP-30 adding even more realism to the sound you hear. Built-in MetronomeEvery pianist knows that practice makes perfect. And one tool they've all used to keep time when practicing is the metronome. The NP-30 has a built-in metronome and even has multiple time signatures (3/4, 4/4, 6/8) to choose from. Plus the numeric key function lets you set the tempo to the exact marking you need.Dual Voice ModeChoose any two Voices you'd like to combine and play them both at once. Dual Voice mode makes this easier than ever. Simply hold down the Voice Select button and select the two you'd like to hear for a variety of combinations.Powered by 6 "AA" size batteries (not included) or optional PA-150 power supply (#330238)

  • A Quality Product that is light & simple Try One Out !

As reviewed by Kirk on 9/12/2008

Well, I went through quite alot buying a keyboard. I started with M-Audio controllers. Big mistake. The M-Audio keys were very stiff- they actually tensed up after non use- that was odd- needless to say I returned 2 M-Audio keyboards especially after the Lead Cancer Causing Warning all over the place.... yes, I realize that alot of things have Lead in the paint/etc.. but Yamaha makes no such notice AND you only see that warning on cheaply made items like the Dollar Tree... enough said about M-Audio. The Yamaha Np-30 is plain, simple and to the point. No trendy, fancy knobs. It's classic, elegant, light and affordable. The Piano is very nice sounding. I like that you can add reverb to the sounds- and layer a couple sounds- No usb, but you can go via another cable midi out and in... It's great to just turn it on and start playing- no messing with the computer. Scratch your ideas around or practice- then take it places (like computer- etc etc... I was tired of cheaply made keyboards and decided to purchase a trusted name in the music business- that would be Yamaha. The keys play very nice, not like a real piano- but- nicely. For the price you get quality that will last for years opposed to an item like M-Audio. A++++ 5 Stars. I'm happy with it.

  • Much better than expected

As reviewed by Roland on 1/3/2009

This keyboard was a trip to me. For the price and for the fact that you can use batteries with it, I thought that this keyboard was going to be a terrible one, but I was clearly mistaken; It has surpassed my expectations. I haven't tried the batteries. I really like the acoustic piano and the electric piano. This is a trip. This keyboard actually inspires me. My fingers just roll of the keys. It makes me sound better. I can't wait for to get the Motif!

  • Great sounding yet lightweight

As reviewed by William on 5/27/2010

The NP30 is a great sounding piano thats easy to carry.I'm a traveling musician and I wanted a digital piano without paying a huge price. The grand piano sound is very good which is what I wanted and the 76 keys are more than enough for me since I already have a 61 key keyboard. It's a great bargan and I'm very happy with this piano.
