Versatile and capable for demanding live applications.

Stellar onboard effects enhance the high-performance Yamaha MG24/14FX 24-Input 14 Bus Mixer with DSP Effects. The 16 mic/line channels and four stereo line channels give you plenty of inputs. With 16 first-quality mic preamps for low-noise, transparent amplification. Switchable either singly or in groups of eight. All channels have 3-band EQ with sweepable midband for precision mixing. All mono channels have insert I/O for outboard signal processing and switchable high-pass filter for cutting out unwanted low frequencies. Talkback capability is provided for communication with stage. XLR balanced stereo and mono outputs. Mono outputs can be used for driving subwoofers and include a sweepable low-pass filter. 14 buses offer convenient routing options. These include the main program bus; four stereo channel bus pairs for grouping channels, six aux buses (four pre or post, two effects sends), and two internal effect buses for the dual effects processors. Dual SPX digital effect processors are on separate buses, so 2 separate effects can be engaged at the same time. The 16 pro-quality SPX digital effects include reverb, delay, pitch change, chorus, phasing, vocal doubling, tap delay, and more. Parameters can be adjusted to customize effects.

  • Great Mid-size Mixer!

As reviewed by "Wild Bill\ on 2/8/2007

The Yamaha Mg24/14FX is a great medium-size mixer for sound reinforcement and recording jobs where you need expert control without a backbreaking experience! This mixer delivers professional level sound performance and has two internal DSP sound effects modules so you don't have to carry racks of outboard FX gear. I do small-to-medium PA and recording and this mixer is an outstanding value for the price if you don't have to handle more than 16 to 24 sources at one time!

  • Only three things missing on this mixer!

As reviewed by Michael Anderson on 12/8/2010

I love this mixer, its overall sound is satisfying, the on-board FX are good (not great), and all the controls are set-up in an ergonomic manner tailored to my likes. There are only three things missing however, 100mm faders and the EQ on the mono inputs and stereo channels are lacking (think Allen & Heath), and there are not individual meters for each mono channel (like the Mackies have in its price range). Granted, one of the nice aspects of shorter faders, is the ability to write on the space above the faders (channel assignments). I suppose re-designing the frame to accommodate 100mm faders, would probably make for a more ungainly-sized mixer. For the money, however, I don't think you can beat its features and overall quality! I've done some research on boards in this price range, and I can't find another as capable, and not having to deal with a lot of extra outboard processing.
