  • Extremem value-Extreme Fidelity> Bargain

As reviewed by John on 5/19/2009

This is for my synthesizers and one actually has balanced outputs. The board is really high quality and low noise. The shock was the quality of the effects processor! The added compressors are a great feature but do not use and when I tried could not tell when they came on or if they are working at all? Strange and would be tough to know how much to turn up without an indicator showing they are in use. Just a true bargain comparing to other boards have used that cost a lot more for less. Have it racked and no heat out of the ordinary. A++ value.

  • The Best Compact Console I've Used

As reviewed by John Kramer on 10/4/2010

The title says it all. The features are tremendous. It's about 2/3 the weight of any 12 fader mixer I've ever used. Each fader has 3 aux sends..one pre-fade..one post & one switchable. Also has 1-2 & 3-4 sub mix. A unique feature of the MG series of Yamaha is that ALL aux sends & sub-mixes are totally independent of main output assignment. If a fader is muted to L/R main output..it still functions as a "send" or "sub-mix". A great plus for my work. The one knob compression on the first 6 mic faders is an enormous plus. No extra components to lug to a gig. There are a total of 10 mic faders and two line faders. Each of the mic faders can function as line level as well. I LOVE the lighted "On/Off" buttons for each fader. No doubt if a channel engaged. Rack ears are built in..nothing to change or add.

  • Great deal, great sound

As reviewed by Markansas on 9/24/2010

You will not find a better deal at this price point. Vocals are crystal, the compression is excellent and the onboard verb/delays are awesome. The compressor was really the biggest surprise for me. You can't change any of the parameters, but damn, the preset one just sounds great -- I've used the compressor on bass and vocals, and it's very very satisfying. For $$$, this mixer cannot be beat. It has 4 subgroups and 2 auxes, so plenty of monitoring and outboard effects options. It is sort of a "stereo" mixer (the main out is stereo only), so keep that in mind. Contrary to one of the reviews here, it does NOT have a USB output -- unless I'm missing something big. Yamaha strikes again, as usual.
