The Yamaha HS80M speaker is a 120W, biamped reference monitor with an 8" neopropylene woofer and 1" tweeter.

Designed to deliver an honest mix, the HS80M monitor speaker has a flat 42Hz-20kHz frequency response. Room control and frequency response switches allow custom tailoring of the monitor's response, making it perfect for all types of recording and multimedia applications. Easily create a 5.1 surround sound setup with the addition of an HS10W powered subwoofer (sold separately).

Enclosure is constructed of high-quality MDF material and feature a multi-layer finish that minimizes resonance.

    I've had these monitors for a year now and I am very pleased with them. There is no guessing when I'm Mixing tracks, what you hear is what you get. I also own a pair of BX5s, I percused before the HS80Ms. They sound good, but when I played my mixes back on other Systems, the mix would have too Much Bass. I think these monitors have a very flat and true response. Great Buy !

    I have owned these monitors for over 2 years now. I also have the HS10 sub-woofer but I bought that 9 months after I got the HS80M pair. As a stand alone pair their great, with the sub their even better. I should also mention that I have never had a single problem with these. They are built well. I have worked in a number of professional studios here in Arizona. I have heard MANY monitors including the original NS-10's that these look like, as well as many other brands around or above these in price range. First off if you want NS-10's, these might not be for you. NS-10's were kind of a crappy speaker you put beside your nice reference monitors to see what your mix would sound like through regular speakers. Not with these! The HS-80M monitor is a true reference monitoring system. Very accurate (although not always pleasing to the ear) reproduction of sound. WAY flatter response than JBL, Mackie, or Events in this price range (or perhaps even more expensive). But don't take my word for it. Listen for yourself! Monitoring is a personal experience. Its about what your comfortable hearing. That being said, the fine people at guitar center were really good sports when I bought these and set them up next to all the monitors previously mentioned in the same price range and a little above and these hands down had the flattest, truest response. Overall I'm very happy with these. If they were stolen or damaged I would replace them without consideration. I have used better monitors, but you would have to mortgage your house to buy them. Any engineer with a bit of knowledge and experience could make a good mix with these. Even for beginners and producers I would recommend these. And at this price, their a steal! GO HEAR THEM FOR YOURSELF!

    I did a lot of shopping around before making the decision to purchase these two. I compared them side by side and there was nothing that beat them. You would literally have to go into 1.5k+ range to start getting a better quality monitor.
