Pretty good guitar
I bought this guitar last year for Christmas. When I hit my first note on the guitar, it sounded awesome. I recommend it to any beginner because it was of great quality and it sounds great and for a great price. Although,I would recommend buying another strap. Also, buy a hard case for it because it bangs up really easily.

For the beginner
Yamaha GigMaker Deluxe Guitar Pack
I brought this pack 3 yrs ago when I was a beginner. I've added another acoustic, electric and bass to my collection ever since. Yet I still get compliments from other friends how great this guitar sounds. I also saw other beginner who buy guitar more than $300 just for the guitar and gave up soon after. If ur unsure about learning, get this, u don't lose much. If ur sure, get this, because it is a good guitar for the price of it.

Good for the unsure
Since this Gigmaker is a relatively low-cost guitar set, it is perfectly suited for beginner guitarists who are unsure about whether they will continue learning to play. The guitar is mediocre at best, but the point of this gigmaker is to introduce one to the world of guitar. If you decide not to play, you're only out about $180. If you decide to continue, you have a whole bunch of much needed accessories (strap, tuner, picks, gig-bag), and you can upgrade your guitar without regretting paying too much for an instrument.
This set is wonderful for those who are interested in Guitar, but unsure about whether they will continue to play.

awesome guitar
Granted I'm a beginner and haven't actually played another guitar, this guitar is awesome. I wasn't sure if I would stick with playing when i first bought this, so i figured 180 was a good amount to spare. A couple friends say the guitar strings are a bit rough, but they're decently easy to play with to me and the CD that it came with taught me how to finally tune a guitar. The bag isn't great and neither is the strap because I don't know how to put it on since there aren't directions, but the tuner and CD are top notch. Sounds great and really fills a room.

Great guitar for the novelist
I tried to learn to play with a 30-year old hand me down guitar. It was so hard to play that I almost stopped trying. I decided to try out this Yamaha Gigmaker Deluxe and was immediately able to play the cord that stumped me. It became a no brainer to buy. I have received compliments on the sound from several people. I like the tuner and the strings aren't bad for the beginner to learn on. But the crown jewel in this kit is the guitar. Overall this might be the acoustic I stick with for a very long time because of its sound and ease of play.
