  • GREAT buy for the money! Love the sound.

As reviewed by D&C on 4/11/2011

My step-son and I decided to take guitar lessons and soon after decided to go get a guitar for my birthday. We talked to the salesman at guitar center who explained the differences between a few models. This one was labeled as folk guitar meaning it has a narrower waist- it also has a solid spruce top rather than laminate. For us the narrow waist felt natural and light. The second the salesman played it, we could hear the obvious difference that the spruce made, it sounded vibrant and bright. I can't say enough about how much we love this guitar. GREAT buy for the money.

  • Sometimes you get more than you pay for...

As reviewed by Simon Herschteller on 11/10/2008

Scroll back up and add this guitar to your cart ASAP! cause your gonna wanna have this one in your arsenal. This small bodied guitar is great for people with small hands, people who like smaller bodied guitars and beginning players all the way up to those with rockstar ego's. As usual Yamaha's build quality is far beyond what you pay for. With a solid top and the crisp sound of Nato (which is also a great choice as a sustainable wood) to support the back and sides this guitar has a great clean, clear tone to it. All the frets were well dressed and there was no finger catching on the way up and down the neck. I have already replaced the bridge pins and saddle with a Graph Tech supercharger kit for more sustain and resonance (an upgrade I highly recommend, I will be replacing the nut soon too after I make one of correct dimensions.) Throw on a set of Thomas-Inkfeld Plectrum strings and this little baby will keep you smiling even after you put it down. Thanks Yamaha for making my day, and keeping it cheap!
