  • Every high,every low,everything in between!

As reviewed by Bob Neaves on 6/12/2007

Have a 35 year old Yamaha acoustic that has aged gracefully and was looking for a new "main" ax. Played it for 10 minutes @ Guitar Center and took it home. Booming sound, highs, lows and mids are all clearly defined. XLNT for fingerpicking and hard rhythm. Now my son wants one...

  • Great price, sound, look and action out of the box

As reviewed by Dennis Snyder on 6/12/2010

I purchased this from the Guitar Center in SE Portland. I was looking for a low cost entry level guitar with a nice full sound. The FG730S was built very well with lots of luxury accents. It sounds great right out of the box with minimal setup. Perfect for the beginner but lots of room to grow. I had a professional luthier add fishman neo d magnetic acoustic pickups and oh what a great sound plugged in. VERY FULL!

  • If I'd have know it was this easy...

As reviewed by Safety Don on 9/4/2010

I would have bought this a long time ago. First off: kudos to Gary at GC in Arlington Heights, IL. I had never picked up a guitar before and he walked me through several choices, played them all and let me heve a go with each. While I'm not a prop player, I've been doing pro sound work for over 20 years and although not a $3K Martin, we were into $2K guitars before the sound caught up to this one for the price tag. The Good: it tunes and stays that way. I packed the guitar into a Gator DREAD case (see other review) and we went through Chicago-O'Hare and customs into Canada and when I picked it up in the hotel, it was still in tune. WOW. I have medium to small hands hads for a big guy (6-1, 220) and the body and neck are both comfortable. I can hit all the chords on the neck with no problem and without catching strings on either side. I was worried about starting with steel strings but it hasn't been a problem, my fingers are getting used to it. The sound is fantastic. The bad: only one strap peg. The guys at GC installed another for $10 and it's well worht it. I'm 60 days in and so far, this is the only complaint. The judgement: I'll never give up this guitar. Not to say I'll never upgrade but the sound on this is wonderful and it's a joy to play. I've worked with a lot of pro musicians, recorded a variety of music and the sound from this guitar is well above it's price range. If I was recording a band and they needed a guitar, I'd give them this one and be confident in the playback. I've written a lot of reviews on fishing gear and this guitar reminds me of my fishing rods: buy the best you can for the money because the high priced ones break just as well and the lower price. Listen with your eyes closed and worry about the price later, that's how I bought this one and I'm glad I did.
