Hard to beat its value in the $200 range

I got this acoustic a GC after my birthday. After browsing the store for weeks, I decided on a acoustic and narrowed it down to about 10 models which included Ibanazes, Fenders, Epiphones and Ovations. I had very little time that day to pick one out from the hundreds of guitars they have so I asked one of the staff for help. He asked me a few questions like what was my price range is this my first guitar and so forth. When I told him my price range was $150-$250 and I didn't need a acoustic/electric, he immediatly grabbed a Yamaha FG700s from the rack. It seemed that he was quite estatic about this particular guitar. I asked another staff member just for a second opinion and he too was very positive about this model. After trying it out for 10 min. I decided to go with their word and buy the FG700s. Details I noticed: What really first grabbed my attention was the finish. Bleeding gorgoues. If it had the label Taylor on the headstock I wouldn't have any trouble believing it. The looks are practically on par with the $700-$1000 acoustics yousee in the high-end companies. The top is made of a solid Sitka Spruce top which has a absolutely awesome tone. The large body lets it be loud without strumming hard. The hardware is great, so much better than the tuners on the Squire I've been borrowing. I tuned it when I first brought it home and stayed in tune for about 3 weeks. The neck gives it a very long sweet sustain. The finished mahogany makes the neck easy to play and beautiful to boot. There's only a couple of things I dislike about this. Firstly there is no dot inlay on the third fret which makes it slightly difficult for a beginner such as myself. Also, the body is not exactly as easy to play as a shallo roundback so it may be a little bit uncomfortable at first. I would recommend this to anyone who is beggining playing and/or has a sub $300 budget. This is a great acoustic justas the people at GC said.

Yamaha FG700S

Now just hold on I know that people often say that a Yamaha is the poor man's guitar, but wait... Appearance: The FG700S is a pretty clean looking guitar. Has a nice gloss on the body with a less intensive amount on the neck making sliding up and down the neck a breeze. Play ability: The low action of the strings makes it easy to play with minimal effort, but not so low you get a sound from hitting the frets. Sound: Wow. What sound, I get other experienced musicians telling all the time when they play it that it sounds great and they can't put it down. Cost: For what you get it can't be beat. I would send anyone interested in buying an acoustic for a similar price to compare it yourself to see what I'm talking about Down sides: It?s not a cutaway, it's not acoustic/electric and not fancy.

Yamaha FG700S

After years of not playing, I bought a FG700s after comparing against several other brands in this price range. I was totally surprised with the sound and the quality. I now play it every day, and it rarely needs tuning.

Best bang for the buck

I fly too much, and I was tired of the travel guitar I had, not to mention I couldn't carry it onboard. Since I have to check it, I decided to get a regular size guitar. I walked into Guitar Center and asked my friend, recording artist and salesman Doug Steiger for the best inexpensive guitar. He pointed me the FG-700S and it took me 5 minutes to decide. Not only it is great looking and easy to play, it is sturdy and endures the road. I love it!

can,t be beat

I own the yamaha FS700S acoustic, as well as many other acoustics and electrics. This Yamaha looks great and sounds better than both of my fender acoustics and my friend's gibson! My only regret is not buying this guitar first, I could have saved a lot of money, It's everything I needed in an acoustic guitar: nice action and playability, great sound, and outstanding value, period.
