I bought this at GC along with Peavey PR 15 cabs. I love this mixer! Plenty of features for the price, and very easy to set up/use. I really like the box design - I set it on stage right in front of me, like a monitor, tilted back. Great thinking by the Yamaha engineers. For me it came down to this or a SoundCraft Gigrac, which was a little cheaper. I opted to pay a bit more and get the Yamaha. Too many Gigrac owners were 'so-so' about it, plus it looks like an ugly German WWII radio. So I'm glad I went with this Yamaha - you can easily shape the sound you want and it's light, portable, and doesn't require a stand.
This mixer is very user-friendly and it's easy to carry around. The reverbs are high-quality and I'm sure you'll like them;they really enhance your sound. I'v played a few gigs with this mixer and 500watts is enough to be heard through decent crowds. The EQ is very useful in shaping your tone.
The clarity and power that the Yamaha EMX512SC can deliver is incredible. The 500 watts is more than enough for a fair crowd and the EQ is a life saver.. just shape the tone you want - doesn't get any better. Your aspiring band NEEDS this. Don't wait until they're out of stock!
