Yamaha's next advancement in the DTX series!

The DTX532K Electronic Drum Set by Yamaha features the DTX-PAD snare, plus a real hi-hat and 3-zone cymbal pads that allow true drum playing techniques to be developed.

The DTX-PAD snare has the proper response for developing your technique, and the real hi-hat trigger and stand lets you position the kit to match your ideal setup. The ride and crash feature cup, bow and edge voices and are "mute-able" and "choke-able". The DTX502 module includes 691 high-quality sounds and offers drum training functions, practice songs, and easy MIDI recording. The USB port allows control over VSTi software and lets you import custom wave files.

Using proprietary laser technology to analyze drum strokes, Yamaha precisely tuned the trigger settings on the DTX502 series resulting in a more natural feeling with laser accuracy. You also get advanced features from Yamaha's higher end models like cymbal muting, natural cymbal swells, and smoother snare drumrolls so the kits respond to every nuance of your playing.

The hi-hat system of the DTX532K features a dual-zone trigger pad (for edge and bow sounds) that mounts to the included Yamaha hi-hat stand for realistic pedal action and versatile positioning. Moreover, the hi-hat can express various styles of play such as open/close position, closed pedal and foot splash. You can even play tip and edge voices for adding subtle nuances to the beat!

The DTX532K also features professional 3-zone cymbal pads, which can express a different sound in each of the cup, bow and edge zones. These cymbals have a good stick feel and low acoustic noise, which is essential for electronic drums when used for private practice. In addition to a very natural swaying motion, they also have the "choke" function 360-degrees around the edge. You can even mute the cymbal before striking it - a DTX exclusive feature!

New drum training functions are included to challenge you no matter your current skill level every time you practice. Working with these tools will help you improve the most important skills for drumming from rhythmic timing to pad accuracy and endurance. The system will even generate a score so you can track your progress as you improve.

The DTX502 module is perfect for use in a รข??hybrid' kit with your acoustic drum hardware, and can be expanded with four additional pads or triggers. Pad upgrades let you build your dream kit as your skills improve. USB connectivity lets you connect to a PC.

Kick pedal sold separately.

  • Best electronic kit at this price point, hands down!

As reviewed by Philip on 3/26/2015

Where do I begin? In my opinion, this kit is far and away one of the best electronic kits available at this price point. As a semi-professional drummer who plays mostly jazz, the snare and hihat are the most important parts of the kit to me and that?s why I chose this particular model: the snare is their higher-end DTX model and is VERY sensitive?.sensitive enough to keep up with fast stick work and even buzz rolls (it has never once hiccupped and it kept up with everything I could throw at it), and it feels pretty realistic too. What I really like too is that the hihat on this model is mounted on a ?real? hihat stand and the action is extremely close to the real thing ? again, perfect for jazz. The sound samples this kit comes with sound far better than competitive products from Roland, Simmons, etc, at least to my ears. The Yamaha DTX-502 module the kit comes with has sound samples that sound just like tight, tuned Yamaha drums and sound very realistic. I play mostly a Yamaha acoustic kit when gigging and the sounds from this module are unbelieveably close and are very ?in your face.? You can also select from all kinds of Yamaha drums like the Maple Custom, Yamaha?s Oak Custom kit, a Birch Kit, Beech kit, etc. You can even tune the drums themselves (I ?cranked? the snare drum sound on the Yamaha Birch kit and was laughing at how ?ballsy? it sounded). There?s even a sound called ?Drum Corps? and it sounds exactly like a cranked up Yamaha marching snare! A lot of people may not realize all the other functionality and connectivity this kit comes with too?.you can control the entire kit with your iphone, for example (just download the DTX502 app onto your phone), or you can use Yamaha?s Song Beats app (also for iphone) to download free songs into the module as well as more drum sounds. Together with all the practice/training modes, this thing is the ultimate practice tool. But for me, the icing on the cake is that you can also use parts of this kit with your existing acoustic drum set to make a ?hybrid? kit. You can take just the DTX pad, for example, and mount it next to your hihat for effects & loops if you wanted to. To be fair, the other kits at this price point all have their strengths and weaknesses (I did like Roland?s mesh head on the snare, for example), but to me, none them ticked as many boxes as this kit. While I?m not sure I?d actually gig with this one, for everything else it is killer!

  • Satisfied with First Electronic Set

As reviewed by Andrew Lynch on 10/7/2013

I can't compare this set's quality to others, as this is my first electronic set. But playing around with many others in the store and then spending a couple weeks with this set at home, I am very pleased. It is very responsive, and the yamaha sound samples are top notch. Since I've only had the set for a couple weeks, I can't say too much more. But I'll try to update the review when I have put more time on it.

  • Good Practice Kit

As reviewed by ROBERT on 10/16/2014

This is a good practice kit for my apartment but on it's own is not a serious performance kit by any means, but I'm not disappointed (even though Yamaha has erroneously marketed it as a mid level kit) because the price point was cheap enough for me to get into electronics. It's great having access to all the different kits but there is no comparison to a real live acoustic kit. Especially the cymbals. They are lot less than hoped for although sufficient for my purposes at this point. They may even prove useful for small venues (dinner clubs) where volume is an issue (the jazz kit sounds really good). I also believe they may come in quite handy for recording. However, this kit is a much better tool for practicing if like me you don't have a space where you can practice with live acoustic drums. Muted acoustic drums are boring and uninspiring to practice on and the ability to call up different kits and hear yourself with headphones on while simultaneously playing along with an mp3 is far superior to practicing with my acoustic kit muted. It's a lot more fun, inspiring and informative to actually hear the drums while I'm playing them. The plastic rack is flimsy and moves around so I had to adapt another stand for the snare pad. It works fine now but I'm sure the setup will work much better when I mount all the pads on a couple of double tom stands. I think it will also work well when I integrate some of the pads with my acoustic kit for live performance in a hybrid kit (I need to access percussion sounds for some gigs). And I believe it will make a good springboard for building a much more sophisticated electronic kit by integrating other sound modules and pads. If you have the money, buy the top line models of either Yamaha or Roland. They are far superior. But if like me and $6,000+ is way beyond your price point, these will temporarily suffice to get you started.
