  • Decent guitar.

As reviewed by Gabriel on 10/3/2010

All in all not a bad guitar. For me the tuners were loose and cheep, finish was too thick. For this price I would expect a bone or Tusq nut and saddle, but this one came with tone sucking plastic. The top was thick and over braced, grain was wide and pale. The fret dress was a not to my liking, the angle of the fret edge was too steep and found it easy for the string to slip off the neck. The electronics were of good quality but found the quack a little harsh for my taste. The quality of this guitar is not comparable to the older Yamaha pre90's. If your mostly classical player look into a Cordoba, but if your a still string player looking for a classical this is a good bet. The neck is smaller more like an acoustic than classical.

  • Great Guitar

As reviewed by Steven on 12/8/2008

This is an awesome guitar. The sound is great. I was looking for a guitar with specific guidelines and this was the closest that I got to what I wanted. The price was in the right range. This guitar is much more beautiful in person compared to the picture given. I searched and searched for bad reviews on this guitar prior to purchasing it and I could not find anything but good comments on it.

  • A Great Guitar and A Great Deal for the $$$!

As reviewed by T. Boudrot on 10/27/2008

I spent a lot of time playing and comparing classical guitars recently and after reading OVERWHELMING praise of Yamaha's great sound and long-lasting quality I picked up this CGX171CCA. It had ALL I was looking for at a great price! Low Action, Cedar Top, Ebony Fingerboard, Cutaway body, Very Good tuners. You'll love the "pop" coming off the highs! I didn't need the p/ups but they sound A+. No flaws on this piece! You'll pay 5X's this just to get something as good.
