• Great budget speakers

  I bought a pair of BR 12s, along with a pair of BR 12 monitors to use for our group's annual fundraisers. These shows are quite a production, and feature anywhere from 2hrs to 6 hrs of sets that change every 20 to 30 minutes. Instruments include acoustic guitars, a Roland keyboard or 2, harmonicas, a violin, a drum set, electric guitars, hand drums, and of course an array of male and female voices in different configurations. Like all acts I suppose, we draw different audiences every time. Some crowds want to drink and yell, and other crowds sit back and get into the trance we are trying to create. The point here at long last is that the BR12s produce more than enough volume to override a noisy crowd, and more than enough clarity and detail to please a more discriminating crowd. I am largely responsible for the sound gear and the overall production of a show, and I love the BR12s for their modest price and their wonderful clarity and detailing. Obviously our acts are not bass heavy, nor do they require ear splitting SPLs. I would not recommend the BR12s for those who love thump or those who require end of the world sound levels. I would strongly recommend them for small acoustic acts and even four or five piece jazz, rock, or blues groups--assuming that there isn't any real need for profound bass or excessive SPLs. Our last show included a some jazz rock arrangements by a quintet that included a vintage Strat, a harmonica, two miced Fender tube amps, a drum set, a violin, a 1950s Gibson jazz box, & a keyboard. The BR12's handled all of this, and with such detailing and clarity that I am still delighted (and a bit amazed--I got these things on sale for a couple of bucks each at GC).

  I use these speakers for my Karaoke & DJ shows and they will rock the house. I only play in smaller local bars, done a few Weddings inside and outside these BR12's will handle all. Very reliable, good sound and I have had these now for about 3 yrs. I never had any problems with them. They can be a little heavy but that is cause I am getting older..........LOL Hope this helps you all
