SRT Functions
The new SRT system lets you choose from three different high-end mic types as well as two mic positions that let you use techniques similar to those used in a recording studio. The system provides a total of six setting patterns. Click the buttons below the photos to hear the differences between various sound settings. The system also allows mixing of pickup and mic sound elements using the BLEND knob, and control of body resonance with the RESONANCE knob to create a wide range of rich, natural sounds.

  • Understated Perfection

As reviewed by John Noland on 12/14/2011

I cannot say enough positive things about this guitar. The build quality is exquisite, solid, and exudes quality everywhere one looks. The selection of all SOLID woods used in its construction are perfect to my ear. The action is neatly set at about the height of most quality electric guitars and is easy and quick. The neck is very comfortable with an open pore finish. The rest of the guitar is done in gloss. The tone is clean, crisp, and balanced with a defined bass that is neither boomy or muddy with its light gauge strings. The sound is immediate, authoritative, and organic like a sunny spring morning. Each note is announced from within this guitar as if it was its last. The intonation is perfect and there are no dead notes anywhere on the fret board. Bottom line - Yamaha hit it out of the ball park with this one - or for that matter this series. This guitar is worth every penny and based upon the two reviews I see so far, is easily the most overlooked hidden gem - probably due to its being an acoustic electric. (Not listed with the acoustics). The guitar also has outstanding electronics of which I have not tried yet. I bought this guitar on its acoustic properties alone. It is that good. Truly. You may or may not buy this when shopping for a quality acoustic guitar, however, not to include this on your "must try before I buy" list would be an injustice to the respect this instrument deserves.

  • Shocked!

As reviewed by Josh Morales on 6/19/2012

I visited a guitar center today to look at acoustics. I've been wanting a Taylor for years but my bank account can't handle it. I picked up a dozen different models and brands (including Taylor) and found myself picking this guitar up time and time again. I've played for 15 years and was shocked that I was playing a Yamaha. Aesthetically, this guitar looks good but is very basic. But close your eyes and listen to the sound and pay attention to the feel. This is a very dynamic guitar. I play a lot of electric and found this guitar to be very smooth. When I plugged it in I was amazed again. This guitar is replacing the Taylor on my wish list. For the money, this thing is unbeatable.

  • Spent a long time looking for the perfect acoustic - here it is

As reviewed by paul moore on 9/21/2011

I wanted great quality , sound, feel and build. Plus I want to not have to break the bank (ie I cannot afford Martins etc) The moment I played this guitar I knew it was right for me. The solid rosewood body makes for lovely mellow lows and sparkly highs. The build is good and solid. It feels great. No fancy finish though, which is fine by me as it keep the cost down, I am not a country star so I dont need a fretboard dotted with doves and birds, or headstock with fancy inlays. For the price this guitar cannot be beaten (I managed to persuade GC to give me the memorial day 15% discount even though 'some vendors have chosen not to participate')
