Having played acoustic drum sets for years, I missed the rim shots & cross stick capbility on the oringinal snare pad that came with my electric drum set. The three-zone pad does it all! In fact, when you switch to different drum sets, the three-zone snare takes on another dimension (ie: lower rim becomes a cowbell, tambourine, etc.).
I bought this pad to upgrade my DTXplorer. It only took me a minute to swap it with the old pad. I didn't need to replace the old cable. The rim zones are handy, but since the pad isn't any bigger I hit the rims a lot without by accident. I guess I just need to get used to it. Other then that, I'm totally satisfied.
